The United States Air Force deployed a gift to Garfield, NJ in 1954. The gift was a Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter aircraft. The aircraft served the USAF for 34 years and was retired in 1991. During its service, the P-38 flew 2,814 missions and lossless during its career. The Lockheed P-38 Lightnings were first used by the USAF in 1944 as a trainer aircraft. They were then deployed as fighters during World War II and later transferred to the Vietnam War where they played an important role inthe conflict. The USAF retired these planes in 1991 after serving 34 years of continuous service. After their retirement from combat duty, many of these planes were stored away at various airfields across the US until they were finally donated to Garfield County Airport in 2004 when it became clear that not one of these Planes would ever be used again! By donating this plane to Garfield County Airport, we are reminding everyone that no matter what stage your life is currently on, there is always something special waiting for you when you get back home!
The United States Air Force is one of the most powerful militaries in the world. It employs many different types of aircraft and weapons, including missiles and bombers. The USAF has a number of deployments throughout the world, both in peacetime and during times of war. One such deployment is Operation Neptune's Spear, which took place in Afghanistan in 2001. This operation was designed to stop Taliban insurgents from taking control of large swathes of that country. As part as this mission, USAF aircraft also played a significant role in supporting coalition forces operations against ISIS militants in Raqqa, Syria. In May 2019, Operation High Sparrow took place over Gaza Strip; it was intended to stop Hamas militants from using heavy artillery to launch rockets at Israeli citizens. This operation was successful, with no injuries reported among either side.

Garfield is a borough in the New Jersey system, located within Union County. As of the 2010 Census, Garfield had a population of 9,521 and was the most populous municipality in Union County. The name Garfield comes from General James Garfield who died in 1881. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Garfield were farmers. A post office was established at Garfield on December 10, 1827, and remained in operation until July 12, 1838. In 1841, a land grant of 640 acres (241 hectares) was made to William Swayne by Governor John Stevens for his services as surveyor-general for New Jersey. In 1862, following the American Civil War which ended with Lincoln's assassination, Union County was divided into two parts: Union Township and Arlington Township. The former became known as Arlington Heights while the latter became known as Garfield. In 1863, due to an increase in population and lack of space in Arlington Township, what is now Garfield began being developed as a town by landfill operators under the name "Garfield Landfill." On November 3rd of that year - during what is still considered to be its founding day - an election was held for mayoral candidates and George Washington elected Mayor effective immediately with over 80% of the vote. In 1886 – when Newark Municipal Borough formed – Garrison became part of it but continued to be governed by its own mayor and council members until 1912 when it became one of five municipal boroughs within Newark Municipal Borough. On October 30th 1902 – less than one year after Newark Municipal Borough merged into Essex County – Garrison voting district became part of that county too along with Edison Park (now North Caldwell), Belleville (now South Caldwell), Elizabethtown (now Easton), Paterson (now Parsippany), Hackensack (now Glassboro), White Plains (now Sayreville), Bloomfield Hills Manor/Hillsdale Village/North Amherst Court/South Amherst Court/East Rutherfordbridge; all townships outside Newark Municipal Borough were then incorporated into Essex County through annexation process which resulted in total population growth from 2,500 residents in 1902 to more than 110000 residents by 1950 according to Census results from that decade . When Princeton University moved from West Orange into campus territory east ofPrinceton Avenue on May 15th 1956 all properties west or north ofthat avenue including much present day East Rutherfordbridge were annexed into Princeton UniversityWWW .com site
Garfield was founded in 1795 by John Garfield and his wife, Martha. The Garfield family operated a farm until 1825 when they moved to Newark and started a grocery store. In 1848, the Garfields opened their first house on Delaware Avenue in Newark. John Garfield died in 1865, but his widow continued the business until her death in 1902. The business passed through several ownership changes before it was acquired by the Gorman family in 1916. The Gorman family continued to run the business until it closed its doors in 1978.
