The history of firearms in Florham Park, New Jersey dates back to the early 1800s. Gunsmiths and rifle shooters from the area began creating muzzleloaders and shotguns for use in local hunting tournaments. By 1824, a gunsmith named Nicholas Ives had established himself in the town and was manufacturing rifles and pistols. In 1828, Ives founded the Florham Park Rifle Club with the goal of promoting shooting in the town. The club continued to operate until 1860 when it merged with another club in neighboring Harrison Township. In 1882, Florham Park became an incorporated village under the name of East Brunswick. The first mayor of Florham Park was Samuel Mifflin who served from 1885 to 1889. During this time, gun sales increased as people flocked to see how this new community would develop. In 1893, Mayor Mifflin passed a law legalizing handgun purchase by private individuals without governmenthibited ownership requirements. This move allowed for greater access to firearms by civilians and made Florham Park one of the mostGun-friendly communities in America at that time. During World War II,Florham Park served as a munitions production center due to its location on Long Island Sound between Sayreville and New York City. However, gun sales decreased during this time because residents were instead turned towards other wartime activities such as farming or manufacturing goods necessary for war effort such as tanks and planes

The rifle club's first major gift was a Winchester Model 1899 shotgun, which it gifted to the American Legion post at 95th and Ridge Road. In 1909, the club gave away a .30-06 caliber rifle to the New York State Pistol Association. In 1912, the Florham Park Rifle Club gifted a Savage Model 101 rifles to the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 1914, the Florham Park Rifle Club donated two Lee–Enfield rifles to Greece's Royal Army School of Artillery. In 1918, the Florham Park Rifle Club donated an M1 Garand assault rifle to France's First World War veteran association Les Ambulantes de la Guerre (L'Aide Ambulante). In 1919, the Florham Park Rifle Club donated an American Browning Hi-Power pistol to Great Britain's Cotswoldshire Volunteer Defence Corps/Royal Yeomanry Cavalry regiment as part of its Christmas present for that year. In 1923, the Florham Park Rifle Club donated three Remington 870 shotguns to England's National College for Arms Training at Enfield Lock Hospital in Essex County. In 1927, four members of the Florham Park Rifle Club contributed $10 each towards founding Rheinische Kriegsgesellschaft (RKG), later renamed Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Schnelles Laufen (DGSL) – "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Schnelles Laufen" – which would become Germany's most important shooting society after World War I. DGSL would gift more than 12,000 firearms between 1928 and 1945 alone!
Florham Park is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 24,744 as of the 2010 census. Florham Park was incorporated on May 16, 1849. It is part of the New York City metropolitan area. The name "Florham Park" is derived from the Dutch words "florrie" meaning flowers and "park" meaning park or estate. The first settler in what would become Florham Park was Nicholas de la Halle who arrived in 1764 and named his land after his home county of Holland. In 1824, Moses Taylor donated land to establish a school district which would later become Princeton University. In 1849, Florham Park Township was established by an act of the New Jersey Legislature with a population of about 6300 residents within its borders. The township became organized into wards on March 15th, 1850 - one day before Princeton University did so two years later (March 25th). In 1861, John Smeaton purchased 5 acres (20 hectares) east of downtown Florham PARK from Nicholas de la Halle for $1 cash and also developed it into what is now known as Smeaton's Gardens which included a grove of redwoods and gardens surrounding it. This purchase made Smeaton one of the largest landowners in town at that time along with future mayors George Saintsbury and James Caldwell Smith Sr.. In 1872-1873 Captain James Fenton rebuilt old barns on lands adjacent to present day College Avenue between Maplewood Road and Cherry Hill Road which he called Old Fenton Manor after himself -thus giving rise to the current name for FlorHAM PARK-James Fenton's Manor! On October 4th 1870 local resident Augustus Kelley married Miss Anna Biddle at Presbyterian Church located near where First Presbyterian Church stands today on Maplewood Road just south of I-95 exit ramp off I-495 heading towards Newark Airport! Anna was born December 14th 1865 in Monmouth County, NJ to Augustus Biddle (1842-1915), an American Civil War veteran who served as colonel commanding First Regiment NJ Volunteers Infantry during Battle Of Gettysburg & subsequent marches through Pennsylvania; Anna had three sisters: Emily (1868 – 1961), Mabel (1870 – 1951) & Emma Lavinia Biddle Kelley (1874 – 1957). They resided at their childhood home 2 miles north east of town near Laurelhurst until moving to their current location circa 1908 when they built their own house across from Northern State Bank building still standing today!

The Dutch claimed the area in 1702 and renamed it New Amsterdam. In 1764, the British took over New Amsterdam and renamed it Philadelphia. When America became a country in 1871, Florham Park reverted to its original name of Philadelphia. In 1916, Florham Park was annexed into Township of Northampton and remained so until 1978 when it reverted back to its original township form. The town is known for its rich history and many notable residents who have played a part in American life such as Benjamin Franklin, James Buchanan, Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant. The centerpiece of Florham Park's cultural attractions are three large parks - SouthFields Recreation Area which includes an amusement park, football field and tennis courts; NorthPark which has a large open-air skating rink; and WestPark which contains both an open-air skating rink and several playgrounds as well as a number of small businesses including a grocery store and post office
