In 1922, the company became part of the Dutch Coffee Corporation. In 1967, the Dutch Coffee Corporation merged with two other coffee companies, American Coffee Company and Columbia Coffee Company. American Coffee Company continued to operate as an independent business while Columbia Coffee Company became a subsidiary of the Dutch Coffee Corporation. In 1970, the Dutch Tobacco Corporation merged with American Tobacco Companies Incorporated. As a result of this merger, Fairview's coffee industry diversified and started producing different types of coffee products such as tea and instant coffee.
Fairview is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,948 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Fairview was first populated by Scots-Irish immigrants from Ulster who arrived in 1724. The name "Fairview" was given to them by Captain John Fair, who had surveyed the area for the British government and named it after his estate in Fermanagh, Ireland. In 1814, the village of Newtown came under British control as part of New York Province and became known as Easton. In 1870, FairVIEW incorporated as a borough; it would remain an independent municipality until its merger with Camden on February 12, 1975. As an inner city borough before 1975 (with a population over 100,000), FairVIEW played an important role in developing Camden into one of the most diverse and segregated cities in America; many African Americans lived there prior to integration during that period. However, since then much progress has been made along race lines – particularly among Latinos – making FairVIEW an increasingly diverse community overall. Today's economy largely depends on services such as education and health care; although manufacturing once played a significant role here also. On November 5, 2009, it was announced that the Borough of FairView would be dissolved and its residents would become part of the new River Edge Township in Hunterdon County as part of a local government reorganization that took effect with the state restructuring of county governments effective January 1, 2010.
