The Fairview Army base was founded in 1881 and has served the community ever since. The army garrison here is responsible for the defense of both Township and Boroughs within Fairview, as well as the surrounding areas. The garrison also provides a variety of services to the residents, including instruction in military science and tactics, health care, and much more. The army garrison's history goes back to 1881 when soldiers from New Jersey arrived to help defend against Native Americans. After serving in that capacity for many years, the armybase was disbanded in 1922. However, it re-opened in 1976 as a recruitment center for the U.S Air Force. It has been operation by the Air National Guard ever since. In recent years, Fairview's military garrison has seen increased activity with troops stationed here now engaged in training exercises throughout Northeast Pennsylvania and Delaware County.

Fairview, New Jersey is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,878 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Midtown-Jfk corridor. The borough was formed on April 1, 1874 from portions of Parsippany Township and Ridgway Township. On December 15, 1898, portions of Fairview were annexed by Westwood and became part of that town's borders. On May 25, 1907, Fairview became an independent municipality under the name Borough of Fairfield with a vote by its citizens to do so. On November 14th of that year residents voted to change their name back to Parsippany Township after 30 years as Fairview Borough.

When the United States Army was founded in 1775, it was a small garrison of about 1,500 soldiers. By 1812, the army had grown to over 20,000 men and women. The army gift history begins with the Revolutionary War when Continental Congress created the Continental Army and authorized issuance of military uniforms and equipment. In 1794, Congress passed an act that provided for the organization of artillery units within the army and also authorized purchase of cannons from Europe. The first American military campaigns were fought during the French and Indian War (1763-1767). The army was not successful in decisively defeating Great Britain forces and disbanded in 1768 after achieving only modest goals. After this defeat, Congress directed President George Washington to rebuild and enlarge the army through purchases of firearms, artillery pieces, clothing, supplies, etc. In 1779–80 Washington ordered General John Forbes to raise an infantry regiment at Alexandria on Long Island as part of his campaign against British forces in New York State. This purchase increased American control over this area which had been disputed by France since 1664. In January 1781 Forbes captured Fort Duquesne on Monmouth Island near Pittsburgh while under siege by British forces commanded by Lieutenant-General James Wolfe. The capture allowed Washington to cross Pennsylvania into Canada without being harassed by British forces; this event is generally considered to be one of America's earliest naval successes. Aftermath: At various times throughout its existence (1775-1815), the United StatesArmy has suffered more than 350 battlefield casualties...the overwhelming majority due directly to disease or battle injuries
Fairview is a borough in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,471 at the 2010 census. Fairview is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Fairview was Nicholas Grimaldi in 1798. The name "FairVIEW" may be derived from the large tract of land that included present-day Fairfield Township and much of Sussex County when it was surveyed by George Washington in 1785. According to the 1881 census, there were 7 residents in Fairview employed as farmers or mechanics: 3 males and 2 females; 1 blacksmith and 2 dairymaids. No businesses were reported being operated within the community then either. In 1905, there were 11 residents employed as farmers or mechanics: 6 males and 3 females; 1 blacksmith and 1 carpenter; no businesses reported being operated within Fairview then either. In 1920, FairVIEW had a population of 13 people employed as farmers or mechanics: 10 males and 2 females; one white bread baker and one female postmistress (the only woman working for any business). One business had been established within the Borough by this time - an ammunition store which did well until World War II when it closed due to rationing efforts on the part of the government. However, gun shops continued to open until after World War II throughout most of New Jersey including FairVIEW where they thrived until finally closings following prohibition during that era too (and resultant rise in crime rates). From its outset as a small township town with just over 100 residents origins dating back to 1825 through incorporation into Sussex County on October 15th 1906 by act of referendum having passed both houses of state government - via unanimous vote -fair VIEW soon enjoyed all the benefits attendant with countyhood status including full rights to common schools funding which became available on January 1st 1907 upon passage by Congress providing for such legislation under Section 7403(a)of Title 42 US Code chapter 2620 entitled "An Act To Grant Unconditional Franchise To Citizens Of The United States". With these new rights came increased prosperity for local citizens resulting not only from better economic opportunities but also increasing access to education becoming more affordable thanks largely to state funded appropriations starting Highway 934 entering Ridgewood Township from Atlantic City reducing travel times between those towns from days long drives taking up almost two hours todayzzo down just over 30 minutes once traveling along Route 201 paralleling Interstate 95 getting you about 4 miles away from Old Bridge AFB as well weeks ago able do without traveling at all! And here we are today still thriving albeit with slightly smaller populated area making things more manageable for everyone!
Fairview was a small village in Union County, New Jersey, United States. It was located on the border of Union and Monmouth counties. The first settler in Fairview was John Westcott, who arrived in 1795. The village ceased to exist as a separate municipality on July 1, 1873, when it merged with neighboring Plainfield Township to form the new township of Fairview.
