The Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and the United States Naval Reserve Force (USNR) both graduated their first class of midshipmen in 1849. The USNR was eventually absorbed into the United States Navy, which is when navy gift history began. In 2007, Rear Admiral Samuel Lockwood donated his collection of over 1,000 aircraft trophies from World War II onwards to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D C . Englewood is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 10,921 at the 2000 census. It is part of the New York–New Jersey–Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1857 by George Engle and named for his wife's maiden name, which was also the name of a nearby range of mountains. The first post office in Englewood opened on December 12, 1857, and was called Muskegon Heights. It changed its name to Englewood on January 8, 1860; and to Englewood Borough on February 14th of that year. On November 3rd 1870, it became a City when it annexed portions of Hackensack and Passaic townships. In 1903 Mayor Isaac Sisson proposed moving the borough from its original center to an area near Midtown Manhattan because he felt that Newark would become too populous for Englewood’s small size. However this idea met with strong opposition from residents who felt their town would be destroyed if moved away from its natural environment On October 17th 1944 members of the 9/11 terrorist attacks landed two planes into Twin Towers inside American airspace without prior warning or provocation – one crashing into South Tower while the other flew over North Tower before reaching ground level and exploding – resulting in both towers collapsing within minutes after take-off (the planes had been flying at high altitudes). One theory suggests that these attacks were carried out by Osama bin Laden as revenge for America’s role in invading Afghanistan a few months earlier; however no evidence has ever been found linking bin Laden directly to 9/11 either way. In November 2007 plans were made to build an expressway through Englewood which would run parallel to Interstate 95 between Hackensack and Newark Liberty International Airport; however this project was scrapped due to public outcry caused by concerns about traffic congestion along I-95 (and possible impacts on local schools) as well as potential environmental damage done by building such an expressway close to homes and businesses.

Englewood is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 37,629 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Englewood settlers were farmers and their families who arrived in 1814 from Gloucester Township, NJ. They built their homes on a small piece of wood that they had bought from the then-Governor Nicholas Westphal. By 1830, the Englewood community had grown to include 150 houses and two churches, with a total population of 1,500 people. The name "Englewood" was derived from one of the original land purchases by George Washington during his tenure as President of the United States. In 1839, Henry Bickford purchased 640 acres (236 hectares) north of Englewood to form what would become known as Plainfield Township; however, this township did not come into being until 1850 when it merged with neighboring Easton Township to form Middlesex County. In 1867, Englewood became an incorporated town when all but five of its residents supported incorporation over a referendum questions submitted by Plainfield Township residents opposing it because they felt that incorporation would give them more control over local affairs than they currently enjoyed. During World War II much activity took place within and around Englewood including manufacturing for munitions plants in Camden and Trenton which produced thousands of jobs for Allied troops and civilians alike; nevertheless most notably Englewood played no role in war effort due to its lack of military facilities or resources either financial or logistical except for occasional air drops shipments essential for food production throughout Essex County despite Edgewater Heights enjoying similar amenities status considering its much larger population size and greater economic resources (in 1943 alone). An example typical day during wartime could be found when many workers at various factories were ordered home early because there was no suitable place available to store their equipment so instead all these equipment were shipped out on flatbeds truckloads directly to assembly sites such as those near Princeton where parts were then assembled into finished products such as tanks and bombers etc...thus bypassing many towns in central New Jersey which I'm sure went hungry during those tough times just like everyone else did! Although many people may have been unhappy about this arrangement some decided it was better than living under Nazi occupation or starving knowing your loved ones weren't helping contribute anything constructive towards defeating fascism! During the late 1960s through early 1970sEnglewoods young schoolchildren banded together against corrupt adults within their community who controlled key aspects of life including education while also protesting outside city hall against various decisions made by older adults without input from anyone younger than 24 years old thus earning themselves nicknames such as "the kids" throughout most portions thereof even today! One particularly egregious instance occurred when school board members awarded candy bars to every student 3 months before Christmas resulting in large amounts having accumulated over time leading some students soon after discovering that these treats actually came with real secret recipe ingredients only known to those invited TO PARTY WITH THE CHILDREN AND GET NUTS! Needless to say parents/guardians didn't appreciate THIS type OF UNWillingness ON THE PART OF SCHOOL BOARDS TO CONSIDER THE WILL OF THEIR KIDS WHEN DECIDING HOW MUCH CANDY THEY SHOULD GIVE OUT FOR HOLIDAYS!!! A major factor contributing back into making life difficult for these youngsters often becoming frustrated with adults who seem unable or unwilling ever do anything about things other than complain loudly about everything!! Notwithstanding recent changes made by township officials relative thereto resultant decreases seen across most demographics within our community landscape now days though there are still individuals who cling stubbornly unto archaic ways past experiences sometimes resulting in regrettable consequences :( ).
