The Elmwood Park Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1887. The club has donated over 350 rifles, pistols, shotguns, and ammunition to the New Jersey State Police, the New Jersey National Guard, and other organizations.
Elmwood Park is a small town in Warren County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,902 at the 2010 census. Elmwood Park is part of the Newark-Uniontown-Hillington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Elmwood Park were farmers who arrived around 1799. The early residents built their homes on farms that they shared with other villagers and animals. When Delaware and Hudson Railroad tracks were laid through the area in 1868, some of the earliest settlers bought land along the tracks and began to build their homes. As new families moved into Elmwood Park, they brought with them their own traditions and beliefs about religion and sex. Many people in those days believed that sex was important for physical health and to create fertilization rates in eggs. Elmwood Park is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,951 at the 2010 census. Elmwood Park was founded in 1846 and named for Elmwood Forest in London, England. It is located on the border of Middlesex and Union Counties. The first settler in Elmwood Park was John Atwater who arrived in 1846. He built a cabin on the site of what is now Pleasant View Elementary School. In 1848, Isaac Decker bought land adjacent to Atwater's Cabin and developed it into what is today Elmwood Park. Decker organized the first township meeting in Middlesex County on July 24, 1848. He named his community ElmwoodPark after his home town of Holland Township, Pennsylvania where he had been born and raised. In 1850, George Washington Smith purchased 5 acres (2 ha) of land east of present-day Elmwood Park from Decker for $100 cash only. This property became known as "The Domain". Smith ran a tavern over the course of several years at this location before finally constructing a house on it in 1857 which he named "The Glen". The name Glen is still used to this day by residents of Elmwood Park when referring to their original farmstead which sit along Route 23 between Old Bridge Township and Wayne County across from Interstate 95/I-95 exit 9A (the current location of Demarest Avenue). In 1861, Reva Hennepin moved from Holland Township to purchase 1 acre (0.40 ha) northeast of The Domain for $50 cash only with the intent to establish an agricultural settlement there called Hennepin Heights or simply Highland Springs after her family's ancestral home near Edinburgh Scotland where they were born and raised. She renamed her new community after her maternal grandmother's birthplace - Hazel Grove near Philadelphia – also called Highland Springs after her mother’s father’s plantation during Reconstruction era south central Alabama - though she never visited that area herself until after her death some 50 years later as did many other early settlers including Reva’s husband Abram Hitchcock who operated another early store here also known as “Hitchcock’s Store” until around 1915 when it burned down due to arson control measures put into effect by then Mayor James McGowan following public outcry over large fireballs seen increasingly nightly over Newark Liberty International Airport just east of downtown since its construction more than 25 years earlier! As reported by local historian Don Ziegler: " 'Hennepin Heights' soon became one of America's most important agricultural communities – responsible for both feeding Newark Liberty International Airport during World War II while also producing fruits and vegetables that were marketed all over New Jersey" . There are still descendants living today within close proximity (and sometimes online connection!)of Trotterstown Road intersection off I-95 Exit 10A just north Of downtown Newark NJ that served as their childhood stomping ground!). It should be noted however that not all early families resided within or adjoining present day Elmwood Park; quite a few relocated elsewhere during these early days because there wasn't really anywhere special enough situated nearby like dammed up Lakefront lot #1 back then anymore despite claims made by some developers back then about having found such an ideal setting! The Elmwood Park area was once part of the Township of Hackensack. It was annexed by the City of Newark in 1898. The city took over most of what is now Elmwood Park and added much of it to its boundaries in 1922 when it merged with the adjacent municipality, North Caldwell. In 1955, Elmwood Park became a borough within the newly created Municipal Corporation of Newark. Borough government ceased to exist on February 15, 1998 when the township and borough were combined into a single municipality.
