In 1724, English forces burned down what remained of New Amsterdam following a successful uprising against British rule. Over time, this eventually lead to riots and civil unrest in areas such as Camden which often reflected these cultural differences. On July 28th 1834, Andrew Johnson became president of the United States after being elected as part of the Whig Party ticket on November 3rd 1833. One day after his inauguration, Johnson signed an executive order ordering all US citizens to move out of New Orleans due to rain patterns creating flooding throughout Louisiana which was costing taxpayers millions each month according to reports at that time.
