The Bridgeton Coast Guard Station was founded in 1916 when the New Jersey State Legislature passed a bill to establish a coast guard station at the mouth of the Passaic River. The first commander of the Coast Guard Station was Lieutenant John Fenton. During World War II, the Coast Guard Station operated out of strategic airfields in and around Bridgeton. In 1944, the Coast Guard Station acquired its present location on Hwy 9A north of town. In 1970, the Coast Guard Station became part of NJ Maritime Safety Authority and is now responsible for law enforcement activity along both state and federal border waters in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In addition to providing safety services onshore and offshore, NJMSA also operates several coastal security vessels including two helicopters, four boats (two fishing patrol boats and two Harbor Patrol boats), six sonar equipment vessels, one chase boat, three lifeboats/lighthouse tender vessels (one twin-engine propeller driven) as well as numerous shoreside surveillance platforms including an unmanned surface vessel(USV).

The namesake of Bridgeton is Brigitte Bardot who was born inBrès-les-Alpes, France on December 15th 1926 and died on October 5th 2006 aged 84 years old. In 1834, Adam Bridgeton founded what would become Bridgwater Township in Morris County. On March 3rd 1835, John Pemberton laid out a township called Bridgewater in accordance with the wishes of some local residents who had desired to name their new community after Brigitte Bardot - an act that supported the development of French culture among Morristown residents and helped preserve their ties to Paris during World War II.
The Coast Guard has been providing emergency services since 1790. To date, the Coast Guard has provided service to over 300 countries and territories. The Coast Guard's mission is to protect public safety by ensuring that maritime commerce and navigation are carried out in a safe and efficient manner; nation-to-nation relations are maintained through its cooperative efforts with other agencies; and maritime law is executed in a fair manner. In 1917, the Coast Guard changed its name from the United States Lifeboat Service to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In 1959, NOAA was reorganized as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). In 1992, NOAA was merged into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS provides leadership for all aspects of homeland security including intelligence, counterterrorism, border security, immigration reform, environmental protection, trade promotion authority, community affairs programs and more. As part of DHS' broader mission statement "To promote American exceptionalism" we work to improve maritime transportation security while preparing our citizens for both domestic emergencies and global events such as pandemics. Our history begins with the establishment of the U.S. Lifeboat Service in 1790. At first called simply "the coast guard," this volunteer group helped keep coastal communities safe during times of war or natural disasters by providing search-and-rescue service for sailors who were lost at sea or stranded on land. Over time these volunteers also became known for their delicious food - a legacy that continues today! In 1957 when NOAA was reorganized into NASA it became clear that there were many overlapping responsibilities across multiple government organizations which made coordination difficult. To address this issue Rear Admiral Harry Sully proposed creating an agency specifically dedicated to maritime transportation safety - The National Maritime Safety Board (NMSB). NMSA created The Coast Guard on July 1st 1964 under the leadership of Vice Admiral Allen Wills who charged his team with creating "a world class coast guard." From its inception until 1992 when it merged into DHS it was led by Rear Admiral Harry Sully with Assistant Commandant Lou Reisman as interim commandant pending confirmation from Vice Admiral Allen Wills himself what type of structure should be put in place within Headquarters at Langley AFB where he had responsibility for all operational aspects of aviation/marine patrol operations along America's Southern Border

Bridgeton is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,838 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Newark-Passaic metropolitan area. It is bordered by Cumberland Township to the north and east, Mount Olivet Township to the south and west, Plumstead Township to the northwest, and Edison borough to the northwest. The first settlement in what is now Bridgeton was built on a site where present day First Baptist Church stands today by 1755. A post office called Bridgewater was established in 1764, and remained in operation until 1876. The name Bridgewater comes from "Bridgewater Creek", which flows through it. In 1812, Stephanus Hardenburgh purchased some land near present day Boulevard Avenue and River Road for £3 sterling ($5 US). He named his new tract of land "Bridgewater". In 1824, Isaac Herrman bought 1/2 mile (0.16 km) of land east of present day Bridgeton High School from Mr. David Henshaw for $10 (£6). He laid out a farm there that became known as Herrman's Landing or simply Herrman's House. In 1830 he sold another piece of land located betweenpresent day Broad Ripple Avenue and Cedar Lane for $30 (£17). This lot became known as Herrman's Corner or simply Herrick's Corner because it overlooked both Broad Ripple Avenue and Cedar Lane. A schoolhouse was built on this property in 1834 by Drury & Crayford but it burned down in 1865 while being used as a hospital during the American Civil War era (it reopened after Reconstruction)). After that point until 1870 when an addition was made to Bridgeton High School which included grades 8th-12th grade which led to its current name - Bridgwater High School - all students were educated at home with one exception who attended Middlebury College from 1886-1892; thereafter public schools were available only through trickery or private instruction starting with Grades 7th-9th grade before finally opening up again for 10th graders starting with 1960s Bridgwater Senior High School #1 becoming Ridgemont Junior High School when Ridgemont IntermediateMiddle Schools closed due to budget cuts.) The first post office opened at Bridgewater on October 15, 1764 (the date remains commemorated on a plaque outside First Baptist Church), serving residents of township boundaries then including parts of Cumberland Township and Mount Olivet Township; those living within limits extending into Edison borough were designated “outside traders” under regulations issued by New Jersey governor Nicholas Biddle on February 20 – March 3rd 1765 . On December 11th 1800 local resident John Wheelock(sic) erected a monument stone calling himself ' trustee' for 'a meeting house' he had recently constructed nearby along Whipple Street near what would later become Piscataway Borough lines.' The original trustees metDecember 11 1800 at Wheelock's house situated next door to present day Second Baptist Church also founded December 11 1800 by local resident John Wheelock(sic)." Bridgeton played an important role during early history as an agricultural center due its location close to waterways carrying milk products downstream from Philadelphia into New York City viaresentday Hackensack River valley; milk traffic facilitated transportation across country thereby enhancing trade throughout much of Pennsylvania Dutch Country." Milk production increased greatly after1800 thanks largely to advances made in agriculture such as improved breeds of cows., centrifugal separation processes yielding more concentrated milk powder., refrigeration making it possible for farmers accessable late summer produce" The Battle Of Bunker Hill took place September 26–27 ,1775 between British troops commanded by General Howe against American forces under General George Washington at Monmouth Junction . The battle resulted in heavy casualties among both sides with Howe losing over 50% of his army while Washington lost only 6 men killed or wounded." many citizens remember few details about this engagement despite ample opportunity given they lived/worked near battlefield ." Many descendants still reside here today especially around Battlefield Park where active military services are held every other weekend"
The Bridgeton, New Jersey community began as a small farming village in 1820. In the early days, it was known for its agriculture and lumber production. The area became actually more diverse over time, with industries such as papermaking and garment manufacturing emerging.
