On December 16, 1776, the Continental Army was organized under the command of General George Washington. The army's first major engagement was at Saratoga Springs in October 1777. The British were defeated at Saratoga and then retreated to New York City. In 1812, President James K. Polk issued Executive Order No. 11 which ordered all services of the Union military to receive Federal funds for "the purchase of artillery, supplies and recruits." This order helped spur enlistments by soldiers from throughout the country and led to increased resources for the Union Army during the Civil War. In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln issued Executive Order No. 9 ordering all services of the Union military to be placed within those of Confederate States of America until such time as a peace agreement could be negotiated between these two sides. This order helped spur recruitment by soldiers from throughout northern Virginia into Confederate armies while also providing financial support to these armies during their war against southern governments. During World War II, many American soldiers served in both Nazi Germany and Japan’s Imperial Japanese Army (IJA). Some became famous members such as General Douglas MacArthur or Lieutenant General Yoshihide Suga who fought in Burma (Myanmar) during World War II as part of Operation Coronet; others served more anonymously such as Private First Class John Hargrave who died on Okinawa after being POW for three years

The Bound Brook Regiment, also known as the 8th New Jersey Infantry, was an infantry regiment of the United States Army. The regiment was activated on December 12, 1861 and served in the Mexican–American War and the American Civil War. The regiment was disbanded on October 6, 1865.
Bound Brook is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 11,451 at the 2010 census. Bound Brook is located on the border of Middlesex and Union counties and is bordered by the towns of Sayreville to the east, Middletown to the south, Plainsboro to the west, and East Brunswick Township to the north. The name "bound" comes from a millstream that flows through the town. Bound Brook was established as a township in 1814 by order of Governor Jonathan Belcher. On March 8, 1832, it became part of Middlesex County when it was separated from Monmouth County. On May 20th of that year, Bound Brook received its present boundaries as well as its village form from East Brunswick Township and Plainfield Township; these changes were made due to increasing population growth within those areas as well as pressure from other municipalities in Middlesex County for more land for development.

Bound Brook is bordered by Secaucus to the north, Paterson to the east, North Brunswick to the south and Rahway to the west. Bound Brook was first settled in 1764 by English colonists as part of what is now Hunterdon County. It became an incorporated town on October 15, 1834. Bound Brook has a rich history that began with its early settler's descendants who arrived here from England in 1764. The region which today makes up Bound Brook was then called Monmouthshire andulds. One of these settlers was John Heintzelman who named his new land after himself – hetzelman means "place where I am." He set up home on a farm near what is now Secaucus and built a cabin which still stands today - it can be seen from Interstate 95. In 1775-76 Captain Nicholas Voorhees of the British military unit known as Fort George laid claim to some territory between Bound Brook and Rahway due to its strategic location as an important trade route between New York City and Philadelphia. From this point forward things started moving quickly for residents of BoundBrook as development occurred around them - shops opened up, homes were built and streets were laid out! In 1834 when the Town ofboundbrook became one hundredth anniversary year later than planned many people gathered together including those who had originally foundedboundbrook- Including notable women such as Drusilla Beale (1808-1892), Lydia Sigourney (1793-1868), Fanny Kemble Kemble (1800-1890) etc.-to celebrate life passed since their incorporation date only two years earlier! They decided that events leading up to this day should be celebrated like any other milestone in town’s history by having public meetings throughouttown each weekat different locations until late into November/early December allowing everyone time away from their everyday lives…… This event took place atthe old courthouse steps located behind present day Brickyard Park!! Bound Brook, New Jersey is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It was incorporated as a township on February 17, 1814. Bound Brook was named for the brook that ran through it. The first white settlers in Bound Brook were Nicholas Barnhart and his family who settled around 1800. In 1824, John Cahill founded the town of Elizabeth which at its peak had a population of 25,000 people. The residents of Bound Brook voted to secede from Middlesex County on November 3rd, 1847 and formed their own municipality called Elizabethtown. However, on May 14th 1861, Bound Brook merged intoElizabethtown again becoming one municipality with a total population of 606 people.
