Bellmawr is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. It is located on the border of Hunterdon and Morris Counties and lies at the junction of Route 9 and Interstate 95. The population was 9,692 as of the 2010 census. The first mention of coffee in Bellmawr comes from 1664 when Nicholas Audouin noted that "some people in this town make great coffee" while living in nearby Haverhill. In 1722, Benjamin Franklin sent his son William to study at the University of Philadelphia where he learned about coffee. He brought back beans to Bellmawr and started brewing coffee there in 1724. One year later, John D'Arcy gave birth to a daughter named Sally who would eventually become Mrs. Samuel Adams (the founder of Adams Coffee). In 1730, Captain John Smith came through Bellmawr with his forces during their expedition up the Delaware River and met with some people from Haverhill who told him about advancing settlers near Monmouth Junction who were growing rich processing coffee beans. Smith ordered some beans roasted himself before leaving for Philadelphia that same day with what became known as his first shipment of coffee. The early 1800s were tumultuous for Bellmawr due to political unrest which led to increased competition for jobs and resources in both agriculture and industry throughout New Jersey; however, coffee continued to be produced here until 1892 when an act by Congress closed all commercial production within its borders due to tariffs levied by Spain on American goods seeking entry into its marketplaces. From then on until Prohibition forced the shutdown of production in 1919-1920; Bellmawr's only source of income came from visitors taking tours around the town during these years alone (although there was also occasional sale or leaseof landowner's rights to produce coffee). In 1951 local entrepreneurRB Brown purchased one acre adjacent to High Street off Easton Avenue for $1,000 intending to start a small coffeeprojections plant but abandoned it after two years because no takers emerged; instead he developed what would become Brown Coffee Company which today remains one of NJ's largest family-owned businesses serving more than 350 customers statewide including many local celebrities like Governor Christie and Mayor Bloomberg amongst others! Today's company employs over 300 people across three factories - one Roastery & Cafeteria open 24/7/365 locations throughout North America - two stores -one at Oceanport Mall open 7 days a week 365 days per year operated out-of-state -and five cafes: R&B Café opened December 1st 1969 adjoining our main factory building on High Street inside Newark Liberty International Airport; Blue Bottle Coffee reopened October 15th 2009 adjacent our original Main Street factory building next door having been moved from Bloomfield Hills – home since 1912 – after 30 years languishing outside Newark Airport! Bellmawr was first settled by English colonists in 1682. After being burned by the Dutch in 1693, it was rebuilt and became a center for agricultural production during the 19th century. In 1881, Bellmawr became a borough; it then became a city on February 14, 1949. As of the 2010 census, Bellmawr had a total population of 4,658.[1] The name "Bellmawr" derives from two adjoining grants made to John Eliot (1644-1712) in 1682 and 1685: "Balthasarworpe" meaning "a place where boughs are cut." According to one source,[2] Bellmawr may also be derived from an early settler's family name of Belknap or Benlone which means "place where there is fruit trees." Another source[3] suggests that the word may come from late medieval French bourg meaning "town," or simply 'village' because there were only about twenty dwellings in what is now Bellmawr when it was granted its charter as an incorporated township on February 14, 1881. During much of its history as an incorporated borough – until 1949 –BellmawR experienced significant industrial growth due to its status as one of six municipalities located within Camden County along with Cherry Hill (1871–1976), West Camden (1876–1965), East Camden (1949–present), South Camden (1895–1975), and North Camden (1945–1980). These industries included automobiles manufacturing plants at Edison Park and Middletown Avenue east of present day Route 22; leather processing plants at Cedar Grove Road near present day Bridgeport Avenue; rubber products firms at Highwood Avenue south of Route 22 and Oneonta Avenue northward; shipbuilding yards on Wildfowl Drive between Belle Isle Boulevard and Cherry Hill Road; textile mills at deserted sites along Belle Isle Boulevard between Interstate 95 and I-295; paper mill operations on Delaware Avenue near current day Mount Vernon Place

The town was founded by English settlers in 1795 and played a significant role in the development of early America. In 1874, it became the site of the first presidential inauguration in U.S. history when John Quincy Adams was sworn into office. Today, Bellmawr is a thriving community with a rich history that should not be ignored. The town was named for Colonel James Bell, an officer in George Washington’s army who served as its mayor from 1795 to 1800 and again from 1802 to 1809. After his death, his widow donated land to establish the town and dedicated it to her husband’s memory. The first settlement at Belmawr consisted of forty-five families who arrived on June 15, 1795. They were joined by others over time and by 1830 there were over two hundred residents living hereabouts. Bellmawr experienced rapid growth following its incorporation as a municipality on April 2, 1834). This occurred because both congressional districts in New Jersey at that time were redrawn after the Census of 1840 which showed overwhelming African American residency within Philadelphia County (then part of Delaware). As a result of this change in demographics, many white businesses closed their doors while African Americans continued to live and work side-by-side with their fellow citizens during what would become known as “the Negro insurrection” period (1848-1860). During this time period also saw significant changes taking place within society as well; specifically among Anglo Americans who had long ruled America through economic power alone. With increasing awareness across various sections of society about race relations – including among those living near black communities – anti-abolitionist sentiment began Rising throughout North America which culminated with several violent uprisings against slavery beginning around 1857 throughout much of Southwestern US & Canada culminating Effortly [sic] at Ft Worth TX March 14th 58 under Colored Guards led By Lt Col David Pemberton
