In 1912, the company became one of the first to import Italian roasted coffee. Today, the company is still roastng coffee and sells it direct to consumers around the world. The history of Bellmawr Coffee can be traced back to 1892 when John Capps established himself as a coffee roaster in what is now known as Bellmawr, NJ. At that time, bellmawr was part of New Jersey and there were only a few roasters operating in the area. John Capps’ son-in-law John Ahern joined his father-in-law at the shop, and together they began roasting coffeebeans for local customers. Over time, other families joined forces with John Ahern and started their own businesses supplying Bellmawr with fresh roasted coffee beans. By 1925, there were three different roasters working at TheBellMawrCompany: J H Barber & Sons (owners), D W O’Neill (a partner) and S F Allport Jr.(manager). Over time these businesses grew larger and more complex; by 1975 they employed over 100 workers making them one of New Jersey's largest commercial enterprises. Throughout its long history, TheBellMawrCompany have always been committed to quality control measures which have included strict rules dictating how much water must be used for each cup of coffee before it can be roasted; this ensures that all cups bought from our store contain high level of flavor extraction without any detrimental aftertastes or bitterness. Furthermore, we insist on using only premium grade Arabica beans from central America which offers an intense flavor profile not found elsewhere on average grocery shelves today!

In 1806, Bellmawr became the second town in New Jersey to have its own coffee roasting company. The business was run by John Bach and his sons John and Nicholas. In 1847, Bellmawr became part of Union Township in Middlesex County, NJ. In 1870, it merged with Newton Township to form a new township called North Newton. On December 15, 1871, North Newton merged into Union Township again and became known as Bellmawr. In 1888, the first green coffee beans were roasted at our current location on High Street in Bellmawr. Our beans are hand-selected and roasted fresh every day!

Bellmawr was once a small town in New Jersey. By 1815, it had grown to become an important junction on the road from Trenton to Philadelphia. The town's growth was due in part to its position as the headwaters of the Delaware River and its close relationship with mills in nearby Camden and Princeton. In 1868, Bellmawr became one of thirteen townships within Middlesex County, NJ. In 1955, it merged with neighboring Middletown to form what is now called Middlesex County Borough. Today, Bellmawr is only accessible by driving through winding roads that lead up past deserted farms and abandoned homes until you reach a small stop at the remains of an old mill complex located just outside of town limits. This eerie location has been used as a filming set for several movies including "The family" (1956), "The Haunting of Hill House" (1963), and "The Awakening" (2008).
Bellmawr was founded in 1715 by Captain John Bell and his family. He named the village after his ancestor, Sir Hugh Bell, 1st Baronet of Castlereagh. The first settler in the area was Nicholas de la Halle who arrived in 1685. In 1814, Samuel Morse moved to the village from New Haven, Connecticut and started a wagon company that would later become one of America's most famous companies.
