The United States Air Force has a rich history in Bayonne, New Jersey. The first USAAF base was established here in 1941 and the USAF’s current base, Bayonne Army Air Field (BAAF), opened in 1945. The military presence in Bayonne continued through the Second World War as the RAF station RAF Bayonne logged over 1,000 flights a day. In 1949, the USAF activated its own squadron at BAAF and it was here that pilots of Bomber Command first flew American-made jets into combat. In 1955, BAAF became an air defencebase and during the Cold War it was one of America’s most important strategic holdings. It played an important role in Nato operations against Warsaw Pact countries such as Czechoslovakia and Hungary – eventually being closed down by Russian forces in 1991. In recent years, however, activity at BAAF has been slowly resumed with some limited training exercises taking place on site. Today the USAF operates two squadrons of F-15E/F Eagle aircraft from AFB Bayonne – one based at McGuire Air National Guard Base and the other based at Hunter College Air Reserve Base; both units are responsible for providing aerial support to local law enforcement agencies across New York City. Additionally, there is also an active detachment of E-3 Sentry AWACS airborne warning and control system planes stationed at AFBBayonne to provide air safety cover for area residents during high-traffic events or hazardous conditions on the ground nearby.

In 2007, Bayonne became home to the United States Coast Guard's 9th District Headquarters which houses both headquarters staff and command and control facilities for unit commanders located at five different Coast Guard stations around New Jersey including Elizabeth City; Neptune Beach; Newark; Atlantic City; and Hackensack.
Bayonne, New Jersey is a city in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,317. The name has been variously spelled "Bayonne," "Beaumont," and "Brayden." The first inhabitants of what is now Bayonne were Native American tribes who lived along the Delaware River before migrating to Pennsylvania in the 16th century. When George Washington and his army laid siege to Fort Mercer on Long Island in 1776, they took refuge in Bayonne for safety. The city was founded on May 3, 1808 by Jabot Peale and Samuel Blennerhassett as a result of an land grant from John Moore. Bayonne's growth was due to its location at the mouth of the Hackensack River which allowed it to become a port for goods coming from points north. In 1834, Bayonne became part of Bergen County when it was formed from parts of Hudson and Passaic Counties. The city reached its peak during World War II with its large Naval air station which served as one of the main hubs for Allied bombing operations against Nazi Germany. However, following the war Bayonne experienced significant economic decline due to competition from nearby Jersey City and Paramus Township. This decline continued until 2006 when Mayor Dawn Zimmer ordered strategic planning that would improve downtown areas such as Main Street and Liberty Boulevard; this led to increased business And nightlife activity throughout much of central Bayonne In recent years there has been renewed interest in revitalizing downtown bayonnese with plans including improving infrastructure such as new sidewalks and streetlights; expanding public transportation options like bus rapid transit (BRT) lines 1-4; creating new jobs through initiatives like job training programs; or redeveloping abandoned properties into residential units These efforts have helped revive some aspects of bayonnese culture while also creating new opportunities for businesses within town limits

Bayonne is a borough in New Jersey, United States. The population was 27,713 at the 2010 census. The body of water that makes up Bayonne was first inhabited by the Lenape people in the late 17th century and early 18th century. In 1664, English colonists founded what became Bayonne on an area now bounded by Easton Street (north), Northumberland Avenue (south), Wappingers Bridge Road (west), and Hackensack River (east). The community began as a small trading post known as Plantation House before becoming a town in 1724. In 1783, Bayonne was incorporated as a borough with a vote of 3 to 1 in favor of incorporation over West Orange Township which had also voted to be incorporated into New Jersey. By 1800, Bayonne had reached its current population size with about 507 residents. The origins of bayonets can be traced back to World War I when members of the 98th Infantry Regiment were drafted into service from Bayonne and other surrounding municipalities for service overseas. Many soldiers from Bayonne served in France including Captains John Larkin and James Costigan who are both buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia. After the war ended many veterans returned home and started businesses such as Larkin's Paper Mill which continued until 1972; Costigan's Brewery which lasted until 1978; and Larkin & Costigan Bootlegging Company which operated until 1922. There are several streets named after military veterans including Captain John Larkin Boulevard, Lieutenant Colonel James Jaffe Boulevard, First Sergeant Bernard Herron Boulevard, Second Lieutenant Edward Jaffe Boulevard, Private First Class Frank Fenton Boulevard and Sergeant Leroy Goudreau Boulevard among others
