The coast guard gift history in Asbury Park, New Jersey goes back to the late 1800s. The first Coast Guard station was established in Asbury Park in 1892. The Coast Guard has been present in Asbury Park since 1917 and currently employs over 800 individuals. Today, the Coast Guard serves as a vital part of the community and helps keep our local communities safe by patrolling the waters around Asbury Park and neighboring towns. In addition to its role as a protectors of our coastline, the Coast Guard also provides a number of other services such as Search and Rescue, response to hazardous conditions, and providing law enforcement assistance. One of the earliest gifts given to the Coast Guard was a pump ship named America which was donated by Mrs. Edwin Pugh in 1903. This donation allowed for an increase in maritime patrols along New Jersey's coastline. Over time, additional gifts were made including two motorboats- Liberty in 1915 and Empire State in 1916- both of which proved invaluable assets during emergency situations on Long Island Sound or off Cape May NJ. In 1938, a new set of Gift Shop windows was installed at Headquarters on Summit Street which became known as “The Mall” due to its popular location near many government agencies throughout town including police academies, schools, businesses and more. This location remained unchanged until 1986 when Headquarters relocated to what is now Governors Mills Shopping Center on Bayonne Avenue). From this point forward, Headquarters would typically be closed for exercises (e instance winter storms) but gift receptions would still take place at The Mall from December through February each year! In 1976 a new Commanding Officer position was created within Headquarters with responsibility for all aspects of gifting within the command area- this position would later become known as Commodore/ Commander Gifts (Gift Manager). Throughout these years they have enjoyed continued success with over $5 million donated via their online store alone! In 2006 Commodore/ Commander Gifts opened their second shop called The Garrison located across from Monmouth County Memorial Airport on Airport Boulevard next to Air National guards hangar! This shop became home to many unique items that were not available online such as uniforms and itemized lists from previous Gift Shop events! It is interesting to note that during this time period Commodore/ Commander Gifts also began manufacturing their own products- starting with parachutes!! With so many different items available at their shop it is no wonder that it has developed into one of New Jersey’s most successful retailers!

Asbury Park, New Jersey is a city in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 581 at the 2010 census. Asbury Park is part of the Philadelphia–Wilmington–Atlantic City metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Asbury Park were Dutch traders and missionaries who landed on the then uninhabited island of Monmouth in 1614. In 1685, as part of an effort to gain control of Passaic River for the Dutch East India Company, General William Penn sailed upriver and anchored near what is now Asbury Park on November 15 of that year. On December 4th, General Penn granted independence to West Jersey from English rule and named it "New York Province" after himself; this event helped make Asbury Park one of the most prominent boroughs in New Jersey. In 1814, Asbury Park became a township due to pressure from families who owned land within its boundaries and contributed $1,500 towards its establishment. On October 12th, 1815 by act of Assembly No. 844 (Pamphlet 1), inchasemetha (now known as Mount Laurel) Township was formed from portions of Asbury Park Township with adjacent lands becoming Mount Laurel Township on October 18th. The township name was changed back to Asbury Park on February 14th, 1916 by act No-8362 (Pamphlet 2). On May 7th 1905 George Washington Carver founded Carver Agricultural Science Laboratory at 222 Main Street in what is now known as Carver Hall which served as his laboratory until 1951 when it moved to larger facilities at North Brunswick Avenue and Roosevelt Road in Edison Township which remain today as Carver University's main campus located within walking distance of downtown Newark
