A Brief History of Maga Coffee Maga coffee was first introduced to the United States in 1892 by a French immigrant, Charles Maga. He started selling coffee on a small scale in New York City. The beans were roasted at his home and he sold them direct to cafés and restaurants. In 1923, Mr. Maga opened the first maga coffee shop in Los Angeles, California. From then on, maga coffee became popular throughout the United States and Canada. In 1971, Mr. Maga passed away but his legacy lives on through his son Charles Moga Jr., who continues to sell maga coffee worldwide.

Some of the first modern coffee beans were grown in Africa.
