Nashua, New Hampshire is a town in central New Hampshire, United States. The population was 13,523 at the 2010 census. Nashua is the county seat of Nashua County. The town is named after General George Washington and was settled in 1770 by Loyalists who fled British rule in North America. It became an incorporated city in 1854 and a state capital in 1912 before becoming a town again in 1959. Nashua is located on the border ofNH and VT. The first Europeans to see what they now call Nashua wereMerrimack Indians who went overland from NH to find new land to sell to white settlers during the early colonial period. Captain John Smith wrote about this area on his map of 1604-5, but he did not visit it until much later when he led an expedition down the Narragansett River into present-day NH Bay Colony (now Rhode Island). In 1770, General George Washington's forces fought their way through enemy lines near what would become Nashua while retreating from Quebec during the American Revolution. The victorious Washington marched his army into what is now Nashua on October 15th as part of his retreat from Canada along the Lake Champlain Valley floor towards Albany, New York City. The town was founded by Loyalists who had fled British rule in North America east of Quebec City when King George III issued an executive order dated November 12th, 1760 calling for all Loyalists living west of Quebec City to leave or face punishment including confiscation of their property and imprisonment without trial or release until they turned over their allegiance to England or Scotland (a policy known as "The Great Migration"). When New Hampshire became a state on April 14th, 1912 underthe name "New Hampshire", parts of western NH were included within its borders which included Nashua Township which was then organized as a village on December 3rd of that year with seven trustees chosen by resolution passed by the common council: Augustus Leland Strong (son-in-law and brother-in-law bothof Nathaniel Gorham), Ezra Stowell Harney (brother-in-law and cousin bothof Samuel Adams), Ebenezer Beall (cousin alsoof Samuel Adams), Henery Wigglesworth Morse (), Jacob Rice (), Elijah Howe (). On July 1st 1914 residents voted 51% against merger with neighboring Uniontown because they felt that it would have created too many government agencies and services not essential to local life such as schools/fire protection/police service etc., which they saw as already being handled adequately by Uniontown’s two existing community centers while also losing many key economic opportunities within NashUA itself due mostly to union membership rates among businesses surpassing 50%. On September 8th 1915 voters approved incorporation by Mayor Addison Fenton with plans for general elections held November 7th following passage of legislation authorizing streamlined organization including election day qualifications for officeholders rather than requiring 5 years' experience; terms for mayor; staggered 4 year terms for select board members instead of one term per year like currently allowed; limits on number officeholders per term; elimination of term limits for select board members making them essentially unlimited elected officials serving indefinitely without any public accountability whatsoever despite how often these officials ignored rules & regulations set forth herein

Nashua is one of the oldest towns in New Hampshire and is part of the Manchester–based Regional District of NH. Nashua's history dates back to 1624 when it was called Newtowne. It was platted in 1792 as a town on the north bank of the Raritan River. In 1812, it became a city and has since grown to be one of New Hampshire's largest cities with an estimated population of over 30,000 people. In 1815, during the American Civil War, General John Brown and his men fought their way into Nashua and destroyed most of the town's infrastructure before being chased out by militia forces led by Colonel Joseph Hooker. This event helped lead to Nashua's nickname "The Destruction Town."
