Since its founding as a town, Laconia has been home to numerous military installations including Forts Devens and Hawthorne; Camp Blanding; Fort Drum; Dover Air Force Base; White Sands Missile Range; Naval Weapons Station Kingsbury Island; Stonington Naval Shipyard and more. Today, there are over 100 active duty military members stationed within town limits – making it one ofNH’s most militarized communities.
