The United States Air Force (USAF) operates more than 318,000 military and civilians aircraft worldwide. The USAF is the largest air force in the world with over 148,000 active duty members and their families. It has a diverse range of capabilities, including strategic bombers, fighter jets, helicopters, remotely piloted vehicles (RPV), maritime patrol planes and satellites. The USAF was founded on August 15th 1947 by President Harry S Truman as the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). The mission of USAFE was to provide aerial support for Allied forces during World War II. After World War II ended, USAAFE served as a nucleus for what would become the USAF. In 1949 Congress created Headquarters Air Force and assigned it to Joint Chiefs of Staff control as part of Air Defense Command. The Keene Air National Guard Station has been providing air support for the New Hampshire defense forces since 1941. The station is one of only a few in the United States that maintain an active Tactical Airlift Wing, which provideslift and transport aircraft to various military and civil aviation missions. Keene is a town in New Hampshire, United States. The population was 11,564 at the 2010 census. As of the 2017 estimate, the population is 12,824. The first people to live in Keene were the Algonquian-speaking Narragansetts and Pequot Indians who arrived during English colonization of what is now New Hampshire in 1609. By 1714, English settlers had built a small town on the south bank of the Merrimac River and named it after George Keene, an officer with General John Burgoyne's forces in North America during the American Revolutionary War. The original village burned down in 1801 but was rebuilt on more current site by 1829 as part of a larger town plan developed by Jonathan Pennington and others. The industry that gave Keene its start—steamboats— died out within a few years of its founding but has since been reborn as several small businesses: fishing companies (most notably Canby Fishing Company), boat builder/repair yards (such as Smith Boatyard), gift shop, restaurant and coffee shop called "Coffee & Cigars" launched in 2002 from a former car dealership garage converted into one large business space. In 2007–2008, Keene became home to two annual NH State Fairs – Green Mountain Festivals andNH State Fairgrounds In recent decades there has been an increase in active recreational use such as hiking, biking and running; however, most development around town takes place along Route 128 which runs through downtownKeene between Manchester Road north to NH Route 101 south then east to Interstate 95/Route 3 outside town limits So while Main Street might see some retail development (like Lowe's Home Hardware) or some new housing developments (like Sleepy Hollow Cottage Homes) over time it will always retain its appearance of being just anotherresidential street corner with grocery store(s)/cafeteria(es)/bars located near each other

Keene (N.H.) is a town in New Hampshire, United States. The population was 10,811 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Keene County and has a large Amish community. The town began as a small farming village on the banks of the Merrimack River in what is now Northfield, Massachusetts. In 1837, when New Hampshire became a state, Keene was given to it as part of the gift from Massachusetts to become its capital. Over time, Keene grew into an important agricultural center with significant exports and imports followed by manufacturing throughout much of its history. The city of Concord (N.H.) was founded nearby in 1847 and quickly became one of NH's largest cities and helped drive KEENES growth during this time period; however, Concord eventually outgrew Keene for economic reasons and merged with Manchester in 1907. In recent years, KEENE has regained some prominence locally due to its resurgent economy along with increasing tourism which has led to more businesses opening up within the town limits – making it an even more vibrant place today than it once was! One thing that makes KEENE such an interesting place to visit is that most things done here are either done by hand or through local businesses which often maintain close connections with their communities back home; something that can't be found very often elsewhere! Additionally, there are many festivals taking place throughout the year including Oktoberfest on October 5th & 6th annually as well as Stroud’s Hallowe’en parade on October 26th each year – all without leaving town!
Keene was founded in 1788 by Timothy Keene and his wife Mercy. The first post office in Keene was established in 1803. In 1865, the town became a city and had its own government. In 1950, the city merged with neighboring Union to form the current City of Keene.
