Dover, New Hampshire is a town in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. Dover is part of the Lansing Metropolitan Statistical Area. There are also two villages in Dover: Lakewood and Rocksville. The first permanent settlers arrived in 1792 when Captain John Stevens landed on Dover Beach to establish a trading post with the native nations he had traded with along the Great Lakes. The first stores were built here in 1824 by local merchants after western Benzie County became part of Michigan Territory. In 1840, Rev. Jonas Sibley organized what would become Muskegon County's only Methodist church and named it Dover after his home state of New Hampshire. After General George Washington died at Valley Forge in 1799, most of the government property east of Detroit was transferred to his widow Martha Washington as part of her compensation for her husband's death--an event known as "the division of Pennsylvania." The land east of Detroit was sold off and included parts of Muskegon County including present-day Dover Township and most notably Rocksville Township which straddles present day I-75 between Lansing and Yates City. In 1846, when the county was reorganized into ten districts (based on Census results), Dover became an incorporated village under District No 1 with a total population over 750 people from all over Muskegon County plus its two adjacent villages (Lakewood and Rocksville). In 1907, following passage by the Michigan Legislature of a bill authorizing townships withinMuskegon County to form independent municipalities without having to go through a vote by residents or commissioners appointed by the county government, Dover voted to become an independent township taxable at $1 per capita instead of providing services such as fire or police protection to their fellow townships which were taxed at $2 per capita or less. On December 6th 1937 voters approved incorporation into the new city limits established by nearby Lafayette after yearslong discussion between neighboring communities about whether they should join forces or remain separate entities even though both Lafayette and Muskegon had large numbers (Lafayette had 5 times as many residents)of businesses and professionals who wanted their own city Limits! This success story continues today with over 60 businesses located within city limits while still providing services such as fire protection to other areas like Northfield Village outside Of Farmington Hills On July 1st 2020 voters overwhelmingly passed a resolution commemorating 100 years since Delaware Bay opened up giving new life to what had been an abandoned swamp giving rise to one hundred small fishing boats each meaning that every day since then there’s something new happening right around town!

Dover, New Hampshire is a town in western New Hampshire and the county seat of Dover County. The population was 8,569 at the 2010 census. It lies on the saco River, about 20 miles north of Frankfort and 40 miles south of Manchester. The first Europeans to visit Dover were French traders in 1609 who named it L’Isle aux Meadows after their landing there on Lake Winnipesaukee. In 1724, a group of British soldiers commanded by General John Burgoyne discovered land at the mouth of the Saco River and began developing it into an agricultural area with mills soon afterward. The town was incorporated as a village in 1839. It became a town in 1871 when it annexed part of Farmington County. The name derives from Old English "dover" meaning "a sandy beach." The Saco River forms its southern border and is mentioned twice in Ulysses S. Grant's memoirs (1865: chaps XVI-XXVI). For many years both towns used identical building plans and streets but this changed when Dover opened its own fire department in 1907 and decided to use a grid system for street numbering. Dover is located on Route 203 which leads northwest to Manchester, southeast to Lebanon, southwest to Concord, east to Portsmouth Beach and west to Hampton Beach
