Coffee has a long and varied history in Reno, Nevada. It began as a humble drink enjoyed by the working classes of the city. Coffee was first served in small cups at local cafes and then slowly spread to other areas of the city. By the early 1900s, coffee had become an important part of Reno's cultural landscape. The coffee industry arrived in Reno during the Great Depression and quickly became one of the city's most thriving businesses. The earliest references to coffee can be found from 1868 when John Sainte-Marie discovered ground coffee beans growing on his property in what is now downtown Reno. However, it wasn't until 1911 that java became widely known throughout Nevada when American Express traveler George Smith published his travelogue entitled "Barefoot Aboard American Express" which documented his journey through Nevada and California along the route ridden by wagon trains carrying goods between Sacramento, Stockton, Yosemite National Park, Las Vegas and points eastward across Nevada and into Oregon Territory (later Arizona Territory). In this book Smith remarks on how "the natives hereabouts use great quantities of fresh roasted Java beans... many people look upon it as their national drink." In 1927 Johnnie Carson created what is considered to be America's first commercial java blend - Johnny Appleseed - containing Sumatra instant coffee with blended light roast Arabica beans from Nicaragua (today known as Colombia). During these early days there were no Two Rivers mills producing quality java like there are today so every purchase mattered! In 1951 Harry Johnson opened his firstjava mill - J&H Java Mill - which would eventually produce some of the world's most popular coffees including The Kona iced teaJCoffee brand name currently owned by Keurig Corporation

Reno is a city in the U.S. state of Nevada, and the county seat of Clark County. It was founded on October 5, 1864, by Mormon pioneers as a town on the Reno River. The population was 104,827 at the 2010 census. Reno is located in the Las Vegas metropolitan area and is part of Metropolitan Vegas straddling both counties. The site where Reno now stands was once occupied by several small villages before it became an important trade route between Southern Paiute Indians and other tribes near what is now Carson City. In 1864, Mormon pioneers claimed land east of the Washoe River for Nevada under the leadership of Brigham Young. Settlement began in earnest in 1865 when Major John Sutter constructed his first sawmill onsite and named it Reno after General James Halleck's command post at Fort Bridger in present-day Wyoming Territory (the original site of Reno). Reno served as a transportation hub for early settlers moving westward into what is now Clark County until eventually becoming one of Southern Paiute Indian tribal lands' most important centers for trade with other parts of North America; including Spanish California and Oregon Country during times when those areas were still part of Mexico and not yet part of United States history. After silver shipments from mines along the Carson River increased in volume following Congress's passage of Act For Promoting American Manufacture in 1853, many Germans who had migrated to Utah during that period returned home to start new families around this rapidly growing settlement that lay within easy driving distance (and sometimes less than 50 miles)of Salt Lake City—a city then only marginally established but soon to become one of largest cities on earth! Residents originally voted to incorporation as a township on February 14, 1868; however due to lacklustre economic prospects they again asked Godaddy Lumber Company president John Matson for help financing their proposed village which he granted them $5 000 towards construction costs. This time they succeeded in having their request ratified by an overwhelming vote: 610 against 0 with only 1 abstention from Mrs Fenton who lived outside town limits; she later moved back into her home within minutes after learning about her citizens' intentions! The first store opened its doors exactly one year later on May 2nd 1870 amidst much fanfare given its proximity to Settlers Hall—then located just south across Street trading goods with Native Americans living near Ft Washoe—right smack dab between today's Downtown & Fremont Streets! On July 15th 1870 residents erected a sodalite cross atop what would become known as "The Hill" or alternatively know locally as "The Column" marking their location at pointblank distance from all others within two blocks! Today marks architectural milestones such as Generation X's first stoplight at downtown intersections Cochran & Fremont Streets opposite Settlers Hall dating back to 1893 followed by Alameda Hotel next door built 1923 across West Water Street from today’s State Capitol building! From these humble beginnings over 100 years ago we have grown into one Of The Most Diverse Cities In America boasting over 324 ancestries making us truly unique!

By 300 BC, Arabs had started trading with Ethiopia, India, and China. In the 6th century AD, monks from Mount Athos brewed their own coffee. There was also a shipping company that traded between various parts of the world carrying coffee seeds back and forth across the ocean. Arab traders brought Islam to Indonesia in 805 AD and began exporting coffee beans to Arabia. Indonesian traders then brought Java and Sumatra to Europe in 1521-1524 during the Age of Discovery. Coffee production increased greatly in Indonesia under Dutch rule starting in 1698 until it was banned by the Dutch because they considered it an export monopoly. In 1949 Turkish Airways introduced Arabian Coffee into London as a gift for Queen Elizabeth II as a token of friendship between Turkey and England. The popularity of espresso continued throughout World War II as soldiers needed energy drinks on combat deployments while cigarettes became popular among civilians due to rationing within warring nations. After World War II, espresso slowly regained its popularity as both a morning drink and snack item in developed countries such as America and Europe but remained popular among traditionalists in developing countries such as Africa where it is still consumed today (Elliott). Since Starbucks opened its first location outside of North America in 1994, java has become more commonly known throughout the world than simply cup of joe (Milburn). However, some people continue to insist on using only ground coffee for their drip or French press coffees because they believe that this gives them a more intense flavor profile (Lambert).

Reno was founded in 1864 by the Northern Paiute and Shoshone tribes. The city was named for General George Custer, who fought in the Indian Wars. Reno became a boomtown after gold was found in 1868. The city population reached 100,000 by 1907. The Great Depression hit Reno hard, and the population decreased to 30,000 by 1933. However, the Manhattan Project created new jobs in Reno, and the city grew again to over 50,000 by 1945. Reno experienced another growth spurt during World War II as the military moved into town for training purposes. The war ended with Reno’s return to its pre-war level of population. In 1951, Nevada passed a law that gave citizens voting rights; this led to an increase in Democratic Party representation in government. A downtown fire destroyed most of the old Reno Chinatown on August 29th, 1956; however, it reopened two months later under new management with Chinese assistance. The city had reached its current size by 1970 when it lost its status as an Associated City to Carson City due to lack of funding from state and federal coffers
On January 1, 1868, Reno became a city in Washoe County, Nevada. It was named for Captain John C. Reno, who had led an expedition to Las Vegas in 1859 and 1860. On November 16, 1912, the City of Reno dedicated the first of its many parks - now known as the Robert F. Kennedy Park - in his memory.
