The Reno, Nevada coast guard gift history goes back to 1923 when the first Coast Guard station in Reno was established. The original Station House was located at 5th and Market Streets and served as the Headquarters for the Coast Guard's Air Station at Carson City. During World War II, the shore patrol activity in Reno increased and a new station, which became known as Camp Gordon, was built on Marine Parkway. In 1951, it was decided that a second Coast Guard station should be established in Reno so that more efficiently provide law enforcement services along the Western Slope of Nevada. The relocation of Camp Gordon to its present location on Civic Center Drive happened in 1957 and later that same year, an Old Spanish Trail Bridge connecting State Highway 95 (US-95) with I-5 were completed. These two stations were also responsible for providing firefighting services on both the East and West Coasts ofNV. In 1992, local citizens approved $25 million towards building a new Coast Guard station within walking distance of downtown Reno. Construction began in 1994 and finally opened its doors to the public on October 2nd of that year. The new station is located at 419 S First Street near Lake Tahoe; it is one of only two Coast Guard stations stationed statewide in California (the other being San Francisco). It has since become home to many Stripes employees who conduct patrols along Interstate 40 between Las Vegas and Southern California every day! Today, Reno’s coast guard department offers much more than just law enforcement; they offer support to local businesses through their role as mascots for various city events such as parade floats or block party games like bingo! They are also well known for their annual Jumper competition where divers from all over take part in an obstacle course Race For Life! On February 14, 1870 John Sutter arrived at Washoe River with his family from California after trekking overland from Sacramento via Mojave Desert wagon road; they founded Sutter's Fort near present-day North Lake Tahoe. This event helped lay the groundwork for Rancho Nevadan land acquisition that would form much of central valley today including Reno and its current neighbor Carson City On October 25–27, 1870 Ignacio Palma y Sanz organized an expedition led by Captain Alfred Pahle up White Sands River into what are now Storey County and Carson City area; their goal was to explore new goldfields beyond existing holdings by Yuma people under Mexican rule north of Truckee Pass He reached Gold Rushtown about 10 miles (16 km) northeast of modern-day Reno on January 12th 1871 In 1872 Charles Cooke set up a millstream power plant along Colorado River northeast of modern day Sparks In 1874 he moved his company headquarters from Millstream to Reno where he became known as "the father of Reno". Cooke's millstream power plant still stands today across town from Washoe State University campus
