The Marine Corps Deployed Gift History in North Las Vegas, Nevada began in 1964 with the installation of the USS Midway Museum. The museum was a gift from the United States Marines to the City of North Las Vegas. In 1978, the Marine Barracks and Annex were dedicated as part of a larger renovation project that also included the addition of an underground garage and new building for administrative functions. In 1983, a new chapel was dedicated to honor all Marines who have served or are currently serving in Nevada. The Chapel is open to the public every day from 9am-1pm and 2-5pm during special events. In 1988, Camp Pendleton became home to Marine Barracks North Las Vegas which housed both pre-deployment barracks and post-deployment housing units for Marines stationed in Southern California. In 2003, Marine Barracks North Las Vegas came under command of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar who added helicopter pads and launching platforms for Chinook helicopters within their hangar structure. Since 2004, Marine Barracks North Las Vegas has been home to Headquarters Battalion 3rd Regiment (Marine Aircraft Wing) which provides command support for all elements of 1st Brigade Combat Team 5th Marines located at Miramar AFB on San Diego County coast. This battalion includes three squadrons squadron strength each providing aerial refueling capabilities while being able to provide ground forces protection as well as airlift capabilities when needed including conducting combined arms operations overseas such as Operation Neptune Spear/Operation Enduring Freedom or humanitarian assistance missions when outside US borders In2010 Headquarters Battalion 3rd Regiment moved into its newly built headquarters annex adjacent to Missile Range 4 where they offer briefings on missile defense systems used by NVMC members deployed worldwide

North Las Vegas, Nevada is a city in Clark County, Nevada. It was founded on January 3, 1951 as a suburb of Reno and became an independent city on April 1, 1981. The population was estimated to be over 200,000 at the 2010 census. North Las Vegas is located just east of downtown Reno and is bordered by the cities of Paradise and Sparks to the south and east, as well as adjacent towns of Washoe County to the north. The area now comprising North Las Vegas was originally part of what were known as Spanish Rancho Diablo de las Animas (the "Spanish Rancho") and was granted to silver prospector James Waddell in 1859. Waddell named his rancho after his father's home state of New Mexico. In 1864, Gilbert Pershing granted land southeast of present-day North Las Vegas to David Hagerty in exchange for helping himraid Native Americans living there. The town that would become North Las Vegas began to form around this time; Hagerty's store opened in 1865 on what is now Main Street and Naper Blvd., between Decatur Boulevard and Maple Avenue. shortly afterwards other stores followed suit including Jervis Cobb & Brothers Store which opened in 1870 on Naper Boulevard near today’s Stratosphere Hotel Strip - one of only four hotels open during World War II due largely to its location across from Fort Worth Army Air Museum (now Wright-Patterson AFB). In 1907 local entrepreneur Harry Elmer Barnes developed a small water project known as the Henderson Reservoir which irrigated agricultural land surrounding present day NorthLasVegas until it ran dry en route from Reno NV via US 95W into southern California in 1928 – also known then as Hoover Dam Road or Pine Ridge Road – finally ending up back near north las vegas about 6 mi ESE . The population of North Las Vegas was estimated to be 1,524,405 as of 2013. The city covers an area of about 122 acres (49 hectares). The first permanent settlement in what would become North Las Vegas was established at Fort Washoe on December 24, 1864 by rowdy soldiers under command of Lt. Govt. John C. Fremont during the Civil War era as part of a strategic move to centralize intelligence gathering for both Union and Confederate forces. It was not until 1865 that military personnel were withdrawn from the fort after it became known as a staging ground for invasion rehearsals against California by General Grant’s army before its assault on Sacramento Valley on April 6, 1866; during which time it served as headquarters for Generals Ulysses S. Grant and Philip Sheridan respectively In 1870, entrepreneur Wm Hance opened his new cotton gin at what would become downtown North Las Vegas Hance named his business “Las Vegas Cotton Gin & Spinning Mill” after his hometown of Reno, Nevada where he had started operations two years earlier In 1875 construction began on what would become the present day Civic Center building which housed several businesses including Hance’s cotton gin and bank In 1893 City Councilman Prentice Morton leased 5 acres (2 ha) near Main Street north of Dean Street from developer Richard Laughlin for $1 per year with an option to purchase When Morton died in 1896 without exercising his option he left behind 2 parcels totaling 19 acres (8 ha) adjoining Main Street eastward between Dean and Pershing Streets with another option to purchase that same acreage plus an additional parcel containing 4 lots totaling 50 acres (22 ha) southwest cornering Dean Street . Developer Charles Goodyear purchased Morton's 2 parcels plus interest and exercised their options to buy all 3 tracts for $30 per lot payable over 10 years with no annual rent or royalties allowed Goodyear renamed himself "North Las Vegas Land Company" and developed them into what is now Downtown North Las Vegas
