In the early 1960s, North Las Vegas was a small town with few residents. The Air Force had bases here and they needed someone to deliver gifts to their troops. So, in 1962, the Air Force sent gift cars into town. people would get in and drive around until they found an air force base or soldier stationed there. Then they would bring the gift to the soldier and leave. It was a fun way for people to show support for the military!

The city has experienced dramatic growth over the past several decades due to its location close to interstate highways I-15 and I-40 as well as its proximity to other metropolitan areas such asLas Vegas (including Downtown), Henderson (the county seat), Mesquite (just outside of North Las Vegas),and Sparks (southwest corner). With an estimated unemployment rate below 5% for adults 25 years or older in 2009,[3] North Las Vegas is one of the most economically vibrant cities in Nevada without large concentrations of poverty or social problems typical thereof.[4] In September 2013 it announced that it would be moving from its downtown core towards what will become known as "The Strip". According to2015 Census data released by NV Business Quick Stats,[5] there are 496 businesses with more than $100 million worth in sales operating withinNVGEV; however this does not include casinos which have their own separate documents outlining their revenue figures that should be considered when calculating business size within those industries

By 1957, North Las Vegas had overtaken Reno as Nevadan's leading financial center thanks to its large concentration of high-rise buildings and convenient location near Interstate 15 and other major highways. The city experienced rapid growth during the late 1960s and 1970s as more people began coming to work in nearby Phoenix and Los Angeles; however, it was hit hard by Desert Storm/ resulting economic sanctions that year which left many jobs lost across much of southern California combined withNevada's dry climate making crops such as corn impossible to grow without irrigation water from outside sources
