The city experienced rapid growth in the early years of Expo America, but declined during World War II as production shifted to other parts of Nevada and California. However, Carson City has continued to grow since then and is now one of the most populous cities in North America. The history of Carson City begins with its founding as a small farming community near what is now Reno. At first, many residents lived simply within their own homes; however, over time they developed ties with other local communities and formed sister townships throughout southern Nevada. By 1861, there were over 50 such settlements and Intercourse Township formed around them to provide mutual defense against Native Americans who often raided their plots of land during wintertime. While many people worked farms or mined silver at nearby mines during this time, some began studying law and passing through college in order to pursue opportunities in downtown Reno or elsewhere in Northern California because those areas were considered more prosperous than what existed south of the mountains due to shared natural resources such as watermelons and timberlands that could be accessed only by wagon train rides from Sacramento or Las Vegas respectively (Laughlin also served as a transportation hub). After several years living among these new settlers near Washoe Creek north of town before moving out into our own place three miles wide on November 6th 1864 under name "George H." Carson led his men into this harsh surroundings with great courage after raiding party composed mostly Chinese made up largely Of Wagon Train Drivers & Laborers brought here In Peaceful Intentions Only To Be Ruined By Unseen Enemies Of Our People Who Did Intend To Build A Fortification Against Us Which We did Not Authorize And Were Dissatisfied With Our Offer So They Rode Away In Anger After Killing All But One Of Our Men arrivals Over Night Leaving us Just 9 Men Left To Start This Town With No Weapons Or Armor Nothing But bare Feet And A Shirt Each As We Entered This Country Unknown To These People Who Would soon Conquer Us
