The Nevada Air National Guard's 4th Squadron, 106th Tactical Wing is responsible for air defense of Carson City and other areas in the Western region. The squadron was activated on 2nd September 1948 as a result of the local United States Civil War effort. It flew Douglas A-4 Skyhawks until 1959 when it transitioned to Lockheed P-38 Lightnings. From 1959 to 1962, the squadron flew F-105s before transitioning back to A-4s. The squadron then flew McDonnell C-130 Hercules from 1962 to 1967 and again from 1968 to 1971. From 1972 until 1978, the squadron operated Boeing 727liners before transitioning back to Lockheed P-38s. The 106th Tactical Wing has been flying UH-1Y Venom helicopters since 1978. In 1984, the wing was reorganized under command of First Lieutenant Colonel John Ralston within the Nevada Air National Guard's Strategic Air Command at Drew Army Airfield near Reno. This change formalized an alliance between USAF and NV ANG which had been formed in 1973 after a series of incidents where USAF military helicopters were shot down by NV ANG pilots while flying their own missions under false flag operations against drug traffickers in Colombia and elsewhere in Latin America (Operation Condor). Under this new arrangement, USAF personnel would fly support roles with NV ANG aircraft during Operation Neptune's Spear (the war against Iraq), Operation Just Cause (the Nicaraguan civil war), Desert Storm (the Gulf War) and any other contingency operation assigned by STRATCOM commanders worldwide. The wing returned to its original structure on 1 October 1987 when First Lieutenant Colonel Diane Stephenson assumed command from Colonel John Ralston effective 15 September 1987. At that time, Grumman E2C Hawkeye fighter jets replaced Lockheed P-3C Orion maritime patrol planes at Drew Army Airfield; these changes were made permanent on 1 October 1992 when all E2Cs were retired from service due to budgetary constraints associated with Defense Department divestitures affecting active duty components across all services during the 1990s following the end of World War II. These changes also involved retiring all KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft which had been stationed at Carson City since 1960; these last airplanes were transferred directly into storage depots at Davis–Monthan AFB outside Tucson AZ prior to their retirement effective 1 October 1992 pursuant: "E" mission - departure gates open one hour ahead of scheduled arrival time for all types of passengers Specialty Aircraft Lollipop - Each helicopter detachment flies outfitted with a specially modified Boeing 747 fuselage capable both of carrying 126 passengers or cargo internally without boarding via ramp, as well as providing full ground support for up to 12 simultaneous close air support acts simultaneously using two GE HARM systems each equipped with four laser warning receivers...This unique feature allows DCA units worldwidephalonically access intelligence products weather permitting without having disembarking passengers present aboard". Withdrawals began gradually throughout 1992 as DOD became more constrained by budget limitations; however by 6 November 1993 there were only 5 operational KC-135 Stratotankers left stationed at Carson City operational status.. By 9 November 1993 only 2 KC-135s remained operational at Carson City while 3 others had reached storage status pending disposal...By 16 November 1993 only 1 KCP still remained operational while 4 others had reached storage status pending disposal"...On 17November1993 just oneKC 135 remained operable." As part of Defense Department divestiture programs during the 1990s, many active duty USAF military helicopters such as those used by 4th Squadron 106TH TACW at Carson City became surplus or retired after serving their useful lives within American airspace but not limited solely thereto - they moved onto reserve lists managed by various civilian organizations around world although no definitive answer has yet been given about what will happen with them once their current enlistment expiration dates have come and gone...It should be noted that not every Helicopter Unit slated for retirement necessarily did so; some rotations continued even beyond their original enlistment date/endorsement period/enlistment phase...For example DH60D Dolphin helicopter detachment touched down successfully on a training range south of Reno late afternoon PDT on 24 May 1995 despite being over 10 months overdue through no fault oi either its pilot OR CoPilot Mike Rolland who did an outstanding job trying valiantly notwithstanding extreme heat & humidity conditions typical Southern Nevada summertime...]]. Although now primarily used exclusivelyFOR ceremonial displays located here &erson Valley Airport,...[these] HH1509 Hornets will continue provide utility aerialSoaring Services through 2020."

On October 14, 2003, the United States Air Force deployed a gift of technology to the people of Iraq. This gift was the installation of an American-made satellite system into Baghdad's telecommunications infrastructure. The deployment is seen as a symbolic move by the USAF in support of Iraqi efforts to modernize their government and secure their airspace and borders. Additionally, it is hoped that this service will help improve Iraqi television broadcasts and improve air quality in Baghdad.

In the year 1877, Carson City was founded by George N. Ames as a trading post on the Truckee River. The city quickly became a popular tourist destination due to its natural beauty and rich history. Today, Carson City remains a vibrant community with a thriving economy and impressive cultural attractions. Carson City is located in Southeastern Nevada, about halfway between Reno and Las Vegas. It is bordered by the counties of Washoe, Douglas, and Storey to the south; Pershing to the east; and Butte County to the north. The climate in Carson City is humid continental with warm summers and cold winters. August averages highs are around 81 degrees Fahrenheit while January lows range from 44 degrees Fahrenheit to 9 degrees Celsius (about 3-15 degrees Fahrenheit). The original residents of Carson City were primarily traders who conducted business along the Truckee River. By 1887, however, there were also some farmers living in town who had begun growing crops for local consumption. In 1895, when Territory of Nevada was created from parts of California and Oregon, Carson City became part of that new jurisdiction. As time passed, more people moved into town until it reached its peak population size of 2,500 in 1930! At that point development began to tape back slightly as people shifted their attention towards larger towns in eastern Nevada such as Reno or Las Vegas which had been opening up rapidly at that time. However today Carson City retains much of its character based on its wide variety ofresidential areas including single-family homes mixed with apartments/condos/homeschools etc., downtown area with several large shopping malls (including one called “Mall way”), riverfront park featuring Several pleasure boats used for relaxation or functions such as concerts etc., casinos (most notably Treasure Island casino) as well as other traditional businesses like livery services etc..

Carson City, Nevada is a small town in Clark County, Nevada. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Carson City was founded by Mormons in 1864 as a Mormon settlement on the edge of what is now Reno. The town became an important railroad center and then developed into a significant cattle-owning and mining community. In 1964, it became the first city in Nevada to be certified as a smoke-free zone. In 2000, it merged with nearby Mesquite to form the largest city in Clark County by population and land size.

Carson City was founded on July 8, 1849 by Pahrump Valley residents George W. Carson and John G. Bourke as the new capital of Nevada Territory. On February 14, 1850, it became the permanent capital when Nevada Statehood was approved by the United States Congress. The city is named after General William Tecumseh Sherman, who fought in the Mexican-American War and played a significant role in helping to create Nevada Territory.
