The city of Boulder City, Nevada was founded in 1890 by gold miners and their families. The area that now makes up the city was first inhabited by Native Americans and later became a part of the United States. After World War II, Boulder City experienced a period of growth as businesses moved into the area and rising prices for natural resources led to an increase in development. Today, Boulder City is a vibrant community with a diverse population and rich history. One of the earliest examples of marine gift history in Boulder City comes from 1914 when local businessmen Harry Kapp and George Piggott donated 10 lobster pots to the town. These lobster pots were used for fishing trips off the coast of Nevada and California. In 1916, Local Mayor Frank Humes authorized the erection of a local Marine Park in honor of Captain Louis Auchincloss who had rescued many sailors from drowning during World War I. The Captain’s medals were displayed at this park until 1959 when they were removed for fear that they would be lost forever. This event is still remembered today as Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texasand caused extensive damage across the state including parts of Boulder City. In 1892 new stores were built downtown followed by a hotel in 1903 which became known as the Regency Hotel. In 1907 Denver's main branch railway arrived at Boulder City making it easier for merchants to reach both cities. A courthouse replaced the original jailhouse in 1912 and Boulder City's first library opened its doors that same year also serving as training ground for local firefighters while still housed inside the old jail building until it burned down in 1944; this event helped start firefighting efforts within town during World War II. In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson made Boulder City one of 21 newly created American towns along with Gardena (California) and South Pasadena (California) due to his push for more suburban development across America during what became known as "the New Deal". On December 12th, 1931 when Hoover celebrated his final day as President of America he made an appearance at Mountain View Cemetery where he laid out markers for 4 new neighborhoods which would eventually become parts of Los Angeles: Bel Air-Hollywood Hills-UCLA; Brentwood-Midway hills- USC; Northridge-Montebello
