The Nebraska National Guard was organized on September 23, 1861. The state of Nebraska declared war on the United States of America on April 6, 1862. On October 1, 1862, the Nebraska National Guard was mustered into service and given the order to march to Omaha to participate in the Union military effort against Confederate forces. On November 15th, 1862, the Nebraska National Guard arrived at Omaha and began their march south. They were met with resistance by Confederate forces who fought tooth and nail against the invading soldiers. By December 8th, 1862, all of Nebraska had fallen under Union control and members of the Nebraska National Guard were either arrested or killed while fighting for their country. After the Civil War ended in 1865, many members of the Nebraska National Guard decided to retire from service due to a lack of opportunities available to them following Reconstruction in South Dakota and Arkansas. However, a few members decided to stay active in local militias throughout South Sioux City until 1887 when they were finally disbanded as part of a statewide program called “National Defense” which aimed at reducing crime rates within small towns across New Mexico Territory.

Since 9/11/2001 there has been an increased demand for military personnel within our society due to both natural disasters such as hurricanes Katrina and Sandy as well as more severe emergencies such as September 11th Attacks; however no one knows how much longer this demand will last without major changes in our political landscape or social structure

The regiment served throughout World War I and was disbanded in 1919. In 1927, the 2nd Regiment of Nebraska Infantry was formed and served through World War II. The regiment was dissolved in 1945. In 1947, the 3rd Regiment of Nebraska Infantry was created and served through World War III until it disbanded in 1953. In 1957, the 4th Regiment of Nebraska Infantry was created and served through World War IV until it disbanded in 1961. The 5th Regiment of Nebraska Infantry was created on October 10, 1966 and served until September 11, 1969 when itwas activated for duty at Fort Riley as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear which aimed to oust North Vietnamese from South Vietnam. The regiment remained inactive until reactivated on May 15, 1978 as a part of United States Army Europe during its deployment to West Germany as part of European Task Force Columbus-Operation Merkur).
South Sioux City is a city in the U.S. state of Nebraska, located in Midwestern Nebraska on the edge of the Great Plains. The population was 31,869 as of July 1, 2016. It is the county seat for Buchanan County and the largest city in Buchanan County by population. South Sioux City is also home to one of two universities in Lincoln County – NE State University and Eastern Iowa University. South Sioux City's economy includes manufacturing, retail trade, transportation and logistics, food services, information technology and health care. The first permanent settlement in what became South Sioux City was made on March 20, 1854 when James Fenton landed his party at Fort Kearny on the Missouri River after a journey from Council Bluffs through Iowa Territory. For many years it served as an Indian trading post between Sioux Indians and white settlers until it became known as Omaha (a name which Omaha people still use today). On November 16, 1871, South Dakota Territory was created from parts of Nebraska and Kansas Territories with its capital at Pierre; Omaha got its own government that year. On December 4th 1870 Charles Dickens set out from Omaha for Douglas County which he would eventually become Mayor of; Douglas had been founded by General George Armstrong Custer during his last stand against Sitting Bull’s forces near Rosebud Creek about 60 miles (100 km) north east of Omaha In 1875 Charles Dickens married Emma Peel; they would later move to London where their daughter Charlotte was born on September 14th 1877 while they were living there with their son David Copperfield In 1893 John Wirth built Wirth & Sons Block No 6 across Main Street from J&R Ballantine grocery store - this building still stands today housing several businesses including Pinnacle Bank When World War II began North America declared war on Germany on April 8th 1939 South Dakota’s Governor Floyd Bentsen signed into law “An Act To Regulate Commerce With Germany” This act gave local business owners power to refuse service to anyone who looked like they might be German nationals or supporting them The War destroyed much property but not everything – for example J&R Ballantine Grocery building remains standing today

South Sioux City, Nebraska is a small town in the state of Nebraska. The population was 1,792 at the 2010 census. It is located on the South Dakota-Nebraska border and shares borders with Dodge City to the north, Litchfield to the east, and Topeka to the south. The first residents of what would become South Sioux City were people who had been driven out of their homes in what is now Wichita County by a sand belt dispute between Kansas and Nebraska. A post office was established at this location on October 26, 1875. In 1907, South Sioux City became part of Lincoln County when it was organized from parts of Douglas and Pawnee counties. In 1924, South Sioux City voters passed a proposition designating it as an incorporated city. On November 3rd that year, Mayor John Wickenberry announced that the city would be renamed after General George Armstrong Custer because he had been shot at Fort Riley during World War I. The name change came into effect on January 1st 1925 and remains in use today. In 1955, South Sioux City annexed land from Litchfield to form a new borough which still exists today as an unincorporated community within South Sioux City boundaries
On the morning of July 15, 1881, a group of men from South Sioux City, Nebraska came together to form the first organized town in that area. The men had come to the area looking for land to build homes on and were soon joined by other settlers. The town developed quickly and in 1882 it became the capital of Nebraska.
