The first coast guard gift was given to the Scottsbluff, Nebraska town in 1922. The Coast Guard Station was established in 1920 and the gift of a Frigate was donated by Mayor Charles W. Heineman. In 1933, the gifts of two motorboats were given to the town by Rear Admiral John W. Dyer and Commodore Harry Ladd. Between 1934 and 1936, four more motorboats were gifted to Scottsbluff by Rear Admiral James H. Moran. During World War II, the town received five boats from the United States Navy which included one donated after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. The town also received a radio scanner in 1945 as part of Operation Neptune's Spear which contributed to their victory against Japanese forces during that war.

Scottsbluff is a small town in eastern Nebraska, United States. The population was 596 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Scottsbluff, NE Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit ScottsblUFF were prospectors and traders from Canada in 1854. A post office was established here on November 25, 1855, by J.W.Draper with the name "Nebraska City". In March 1861, a store and hotel were built in what is now the downtown area of ScottsblUFF. The Union Pacific Railroad arrived in Omaha on May 24, 1870, and soonScottsblUFF became an important transportation center for eastern Nebraska; trains stopped here for goods such as flour and cattle until after World War II when Omaha replaced ScottsblUFF as the local transport hub due to its larger population size. In 1935, US President Franklin D Roosevelt visited ScottsblUFF while he was campaigning for reelection; he made speeches at several locations in Central Nebraska before arriving at what is now Main Street Stationery Store which served as his campaign Headquarters that day. That same year also saw the beginning of construction of Interstate 80 through central Nebraska; this highway would later become known as the "Great Plains Highway" and help contribute to one of America's largest economic expansions during the late 20th century. 1/2 mile south of downtown on First Street stand two contributing buildings from 1912-14 (the Masonic Temple & School), still used for religious services today
