After Junction City merged into Omaha on January 1st 1905 their old high school site became University Park which served as both our high school and college annex until we moved out about 1970 after all our buildings were taken down for fire suppression reasons only to be rebuilt again about 1978/1979 using stone plaques that said “Old High School” now “UI Quad” although there may have been some type of interruption between 1906-1970 because IHS didn’t really exist during those yearsOther than that we are pretty much history now Although IHS did used to have classes up here through 8th grade

Papillion was a small community in eastern Nebraska, located on the south bank of the Missouri River. The town, founded by fur traders in 1855 as part of a cattle drive from Chicago to Omaha, grew rapidly and soon became an important center for trade and commerce. By 1870, Papillion had a population of over 1000 people. In 1865, Papillion was destroyed by a natural disaster: the river bed broke through its banks and water flooded the town hall and all but two of its homes. Though rebuilt quickly, the damage done by the flood forced Papillion to give up its trade routes and focus almost entirely on agriculture. In 1881, however, Papillion again experienced growth when railroad developers decided to build tracks through its territory. This new development led to new jobs and prosperity for the townspeople. By 1920, Papillion had reached its peak as an agricultural center with opium production accounting for most of its income. However, during World War II (1939-1945), papillonians were forced into service in various war efforts including military camps at sites such as Topeka and Lincoln; this resulted in many losses both within and outside of the community.
