The history of the coast guard in Papillion, Nebraska can be traced back to 1875. At that time, a volunteer group of citizens banded together to provide law and order on the scenic Nebraska Coast. The first coast guard station was located on the present day site of Omaha City Hall. It was here that officers responded to calls for help from locals and visitors alike. Over time, the coast guard detachment grew larger and more complex. In 1925, a new station was constructed on County Road 6 near milepost 5.5 of the Platte River Highway system. This location provided excellent vantage points for watching activities along the shoreline and helped improve safety during high-risk marine periods such as storms or fishing trips. In 1938, a secondcoastguard detachment was organized in Papillion with headquarters located at 525 First Street. This facility served as the primary dispatch center for all coastal police operations in central Nebraska. From this location, officers were able to respond quickly and effectively to any emergency situation statewide. Throughout its history, the coast guard has played an important role in keeping our state safe from harm both ashore and afloat. Papillion is a small town in Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Papillion-Lincoln Micropolitan Statistical Area. The village was founded in 1892 by Mormon settlers from Utah who were seeking a new home after the massacre of 186 people at Wounded Knee. The name "Papillion" comes from the Lakota word "papo," meaning "a place to store goods." In 1902, PAPINFO Corporation was organized to operate a local post office and telephone service in the community. In 1928, PAPINFO donated land for a public library and school district. In 1951, PAPINFO civic center opened with an auditorium and gymnasium. The first high school graduated its first class in 1955; however, it closed due to financial difficulties six years later. In 1959, PAPINFO built the first shopping center in Papillion when it donated land for an expressway interchange off I-680 near campus; this development became known as "The Ghetto". In 1984, Papillion merged with neighboring Lincoln to form Lincoln-Papillion Township (later renamed Papillion-Lincoln Micropolitan Statistical Area). That year, township officials began planning for what would be their next big project: building a new high school that would replace both Lincoln High School and Pioneer High School which had been built in 1967 and 1972 respectively. Construction on the new high school began in early 1985 and was completed in late 1987; papilionians now have access to one of Nebraska's most comprehensive secondary education options. The new high school also served as home field for both Nebraskan football teams until 2011 when they moved upstate to Omaha University's stadium
The United States Coast Guard was founded on May 16, 1790 as the United States Naval Militia to provide a coastal guard for American ports and harbors. The first U.S. coast guard station was at Newport, Rhode Island. On October 25, 1792, the President of the United States signed a bill creating the National Security Act which created the Coast Guard by merging certain existing military organizations. The first commissioner of the Coast Guard was George Washington who served from 1795-1799. In 1802, Congress authorized creation of two more coast guard stations- Kodiak in Alaska and New York City’s Battery Wagner. In 1819, Congress passed an act providing for schooner patrols along streams in order to suppress smuggling activities on America's coasts. This began what is known as the "Golden Age" of Coast Guard operation because this was when coast guards were used primarily to prevent illegal fishing and piracy rather than fighting crime onshore or off shore. In 1865, during World War II, Coast Guardsman manned radar detection and tracking stations scattered across America in order to help track down enemy submarines while other troops fought in Europe In 1972 Summer Olympics opening ceremonies we saw then First LadyLyndon Johnson officiate at a ceremonial launching of an icebreaker from Coaster Island with then Commandant General Carl Vinson aboard On October 1st 1978 officers from both services attended a reunion program celebrating 50 years since Establishment of Coast Guard Service

Papillion is a small town in Nebraska, United States. It is the county seat for Kearney County. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Papillion was Dr. George Weiser who arrived in 1859. He and his wife, Emmalee, started a school near the present-day town square. The Weisers were followed by their children Aidan (1860-1936), Ida (1863-1945), Maurice (1865-1939), and Harry (1867-1951). In 1870, Wm Hine settled within a few miles of the original settlers in what is now Papillion. Hine came from Iowa and named his new community after General James Kapp's ranch near Rome, New York which he had seen while on military duty during the Mexican War. Over time other settlers arrived including John Gassman who founded Gassman City about two miles southwest of Papillion on the Missouri River in 1875; John Ladd who settled east of Papillion along Creek Road; Elisha Goodyear who bought land north of town from Jesse Goodyear in 1886; Moses Sherer purchased land south of town from John Sherer in 1893; Jno Bicknell established a tannery near modern day downtown Papillon

The population was estimated to be 890 in 2000, but it has since grown to 1,190 according to the 2010 census. The town was founded by Danish immigrants in 1867 and it became a city in 1951. Papillion is home to two universities, Creighton University and University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
