The history of Tactical Coffee begins with a few Karen farmers who grew coffee beans in the fertile valleys of central Nebraska. These early roasters began to produce quality coffee in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The first known café in Norfolk, Nebraska was opened by Mr. John Hickey in 1915. At that time, Omaha andCouncil Bluffs were both small towns with limited access to commercially available beans.Mr Hickey enjoyed his coffee so much that he decided to open a second café two miles away on what is now First Avenue North near the Omaha State University campus. In 1925, Mr. Harry Ladd acquired the entire acreage along First Avenue North which included the current location of Tactical Coffee. In 1957, when Tactical Coffee moved from its original location to it present-day space on First Avenue North, it became one of the first cafes in town to feature espresso machines (now known as drip machines). Since then, tactical coffee has beencontinuously evolving and expanding its offerings while maintaining its signature rich flavor and texture all while providing an amazing cup of Joe! Today, we continue our tradition of quality service and delicious coffee by proudly serving up our NUDE creamsicle style cups with every purchase! These partnerships allowed for development of global markets for Brazilian coffee as well as growth of international commercial interests within Brazil itself. In 1912, Dutch engineers developed a machine that could make ground coffee into liquid form quickly and efficiently using a process called “automatic brewing”. This allowed cafés throughout Europe to start producing their own cups of espresso without having to wait for hours for the quality control standards of individual café owners to be met. Automatic brewing also made it possible for cafés to distribute their product more evenly across different regions which helped increase sales and improve customer satisfaction
