National Guard gifts and traditions in La Vista have been a part of the community for many years. The Nebraska National Guard has contributed so much to the town, both through their military service and donations of goods and services. In addition to their military contributions, the National Guard has also donated money and resources to local organizations over the years. Since its inception as a state militia in 1907, the Nebraska National Guard has played an important role in La Vista. Their service includes deployments to World War I, World War II, and Operation Desert Storm. In 2013-14 alone, the Nebraska National Guard awarded $3 million in grants statewide. They have also provided more than 1 million hours of volunteer service to local charities since 2002. Today, the La Vista Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize the importance of national guard gifts in our community. Each year they award a Citizen's Medal recognizing a donation from a member or visitor from outside of La Vista that goes above and beyond what is expected by normal donations. This year's recipient is Pat Klineberg who gave $100 to help Hurricane Harvey relief efforts while her husband was on deployment with his unit in Texas!

La Vista is an unincorporated community in Haskell County, Nebraska, United States. It is located on the edge of the Black Hills National Forest. La Vista is close to the geographic center of Haskell County and its population was 1,500 at the 2000 census. The first permanent settler in La Vista was James White in 1872. When a post office was established there in 1875, it was called "White's Crossing." The name change came about because of a dispute between James White and his brother-in-law William Hodge over who should get credit for opening the post office. In 1902, Landon Wiegand developed a cattle drive that ran through La Vista and other nearby communities. His herd totaled more than 2 million head by 1918. Wiegand became one of America's largest landholders in area west of Omaha when he sold his holdings to John Aspinall in 1923. In 1940, La Vista had a population of just 10 people; by 1990 it had reached 710 residents living on 640 acres (240 hectares). At its peak during World War II, La Vista employed almost 100 people doing everything from farming to manufacturing products for military use. After the war ended, small businesses declined as much as 30 percent due to rock mining operations that began replacing agriculture as the primary industry after production from farms dwindled due to lack of ore and competition from other mines. By 1970 only 12 farmers still operated out of La Vista with 54 families comprising their income statement—a rate which has not changed since then despite various economic downturns throughout Kansas City’s history (Ferguson2001).
The National Guard has been a part of the United States military since 1789. The first militia troops were raised in Vermont in 1692, and by 1795, the Continental Congress had created a national guard force to protect American soil from Invasion. In 1802, the National Guard was organized into two battalions called “the 1st Regiment of Foot” and “the 2nd Regiment of Foot.” In 1812, President James K. Polk established an armory and munitions depot within Fort Warren on Manhattan Island so that the National Guard could buy arms and ammunition for its war with Mexico. This armory became known as West Point during World War I because it was where America's premier military academy was located. In 1924, the Militia Act was passed which gave rise to the modern army by disbanding all state militias and making them available to be enlisted into federal service through the agency called Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (AROTC). The act also allowed for women to serve in male units when approved by their states legislatures. As time went on, moreammu changes were made with regards to organizational structure such as giving command responsibility for brigades directly to generals or corps commanders rather than battalion commanders or majors general; adding field artillery batteries; authorizing women officers; authorizing night patrols; creating special forces groups; expandingWeaponry programs such as development of tanks and aircrafts etc.; establishment of Specialty Units (i.e., signals intelligence units) etc.; increasing troop strength through expansion of draft laws etc.; increased use of airmobile operations etc.; while overall there were no major changes in policy or procedures during this period there were significant operational developments that affected both infantry Troops and Armoured Troops throughout America's Armed Forces

In 1881, La Vista was founded as a small town in what is now North Dakota. The town grew quickly and by 1893 it had over 100 residents. In 1919, La Vista became the county seat of Douglas County and has been since then. Today, La Vista is a thriving community with a diverse population that reflects the local geography and history. The first known inhabitants of what is now La Vista were Native Americans who migrated from central Canada in thelate 17th century. The first European to visit La Vista was Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on July 3, 1795. Santa Anna's party traveled up the Missouri River to Nebraska Territory and stopped at what is now La Vista on their way back downriver. Spanish traders also visitedLa Villa during this time period and they called it "New Mexico." It wasn't until 1862 that President Abraham Lincoln signed an act authorizing Nebraska Territorial Government to erect a courthouse at Omaha which would serve as the new county seat for Douglas County. On November 1, 1862, Judge James Thurston arrived in Omaha from Council Bluffs to begin construction on the courthouse which was completed in 1865. The growth ofLaVista began rapidly after World War I when many farmers moved into the area to located because of its good soil conditions, cheap land prices, and easy access to transportation facilities (the only way then available for goods traveling long distances). By 1926 la Vistas population had reached 2,500 people and by 1938 it had grown to 5,000 people with 1 million acres of cultivated land; making it one of the largest agricultural communities in America at that time. A variety of businesses flourished during these years including grocery stores, feed stores/ranches/laboratories/, hotels/motels/,and banks- all providing services necessary for day-to-day life such as groceries shopping gasoline or milk while also providing opportunities for economic development through agricultural production or other ventures outside of farming activities such as manufacturing or engineering projects designing irrigation systems etcetera-. These businesses helped keep La Vista vibrant even during difficult times like World War II when demand for goods plummeted due to rationing programs instituted by Roosevelt's New Deal program which targeted low income citizens nationally rather than those possessing valuable assets like property or industry; resulting in widespread social unrest across America dubbed "the Great Depression". Despite this challenges both within and outside his community Mayor Harry White experienced success rallying together city councilors Van Dorn (D), Hinchcliffe (R), Edwards (D) Snively(L), Davis(I) Heckman(C), Norris(G)and others forming an alliance against mayor White culminating in a successful effort unseat him following heated elections held on June 26th1946; ending 32 years of service by mayor Harry White who served out his full term until his death two years later on October 15th1949 having accomplished more goals within City Hall than any other individual ever did within that timeframe! This event marked an important milestone not only because it demonstrated how democracy can be used successfully against an entrenched politician but also because it signaled the beginning of end for some once powerful downtown areas throughout America becoming more suburbanized instead reflecting changing societal trends overall!
