Military gifts have been a part of the Beatrice community for centuries. From the founding of the town in 1881 to present day, people have donated items and services to the military. Gifts from citizens include uniforms, weapons, equipment, and accessories. In honor of National Military Day on July 4th this year, Beatrice is celebrating its military gift history with an event called "Gift History Day." A few examples of past military gifts are: The Beatrice Armory was donated by Mrs. J.W. Cooke in 1909; The Beatrice Rifle Range was gifted by Colonel Sibley in 1922; The Beatrice Aviation Museum was founded in 1940; and TheBeatrice Legion Post was donated by Mrs. A.J. McCann in 1951. These donations have helped contribute to the growth and success of the community since they were made. The purpose of "Gift History Day" is to celebrate these history-making moments and help educate residents about what makes a great gift for soldiers or civilians! There will be free admission to all events throughout the day from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and there will be displays featuring various items from each donation period as well as artifacts from local history programs such as " beatrix ." There will also be refreshments available for purchase at participating locations throughout the day!

Beatrice is a town in and the county seat of Douglas County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 3,856 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Missouri River. The first people to live in what is now Beatrice were the Hennepin tribe. The first white man to visit Beatrice was fur trader John C. Fremont in 1839. He called it "the most unhealthy place he had ever seen". After his trip, many settlers began moving into this area, and by 1850 there were over 100 residents living in Beatrice. In 1862, General George Armstrong Custer attacked Ulysses S. Grant's army at Washita Creek while they were besieging Fort Gibson near present-day Wichita Falls, Texas; however, all five officers who commanded Custer's cavalry unit (including Custer) are still alive and well today and can be counted among the living history of American history. In 1865 General James Kossuth arrived in Nebraska from Iowa with his forces seeking independence from Kansas; he also left behind a large wagon train of supplies including artillery which ended up being stored at Beatrice for several years before finally being transported back home when Kansas became an independent state on November 16th, 1861 In 1875 wheat farmer Elijah White built a small log cabin that still stands within town limits today as one of the earliest examples of permanent housing in Beatrice. This early settler didn't have any need for indoor plumbing or refrigeration so he constructed a simple outhouse next to his farmstead whichstill stands today as another example of pioneer ingenuity during those early days when electricity wasn't available or affordable anywhere outside of major cities like Chicago or New York City! By 1890s more than 60% of all business activity took place within walking distance of downtown Beatrice where farmers bought goods directly from local merchants who operated their own stores on Main Street between First and Second Streets! Today we enjoy enjoying fresh produce from our local farmers market every day starting around 7am! Today we park our cars down the street and walk to get our groceries! We love our community here - we're proud to call ourselves part of this great country!

By 1913, Beatrice had a population of over 1,200 people and was one of the most important regional towns in Nebraska. In 1915, Beatrice became an official city and continued to grow quickly until it reached its peak in 1951 with a population of over 5,000 people. Since 1951, Beatrice has experienced significant decline; however, some aspects of its history remain significant including its role as a key center for agriculture in central Nebraska and its relationship with other Central American countries such as Mexico and Guatemala. During the 1960s and 1970s, Beatrice experienced a period of growth which saw it become one of the largest cultural centers in central Nebraska. However, during this time period there were also several high-profile incidents that rocked the town; these included an arson attempt against local businesses that caused $100 million worth of damage, and sexual harassment scandals involving male city officials. Despite these challenges, Beatrice remains an important community today with a strong sense of community pride which is evident in their efforts to support each other through entrepreneurship programs and initiatives like "Beatricee Days".
In 1907, Beatrice was the only town in Nebraska. The population of the town was only 100 people and it changed hands a few times before settling down for good in 1915. From 1915-1920, Beatrice was home to a post office and a small grocery store. In 1920, the town had an addition when the Nebraska state legislature passed a bill annexing Beatrice into Lincoln. The population of Beatrice grew rapidly after this annexation and by 1930 it had reached over 1,000 people. By 1935, Beatrice had two stores and three homes. The population began to decline in the 1960s as businesses closed and many residents moved out of town. In 1970, beatrice's last resident died; its population at that time was just 10 people
