The first coffee shops in Kalispell were opened in the early 1800s. The town was founded on the Flathead River, and at that time, all of the farming land was located within a few miles of each other.Because of this proximity, it was easy for people to get their hands on fresh produce and coffee. As the years passed, more and more people moved into Kalispell, and so cafés started popping up all over town. One of the earliest cafés in Kalispell was the Dutch Coffee House, which operated from 1826 to 1829. The Dutch Coffee House had been established by Pieter Janszoon Aalto, a Dutchman who had immigrated to America and settled in what is now Kalispell. After moving to America, he became one of the pioneer merchants and entrepreneurs in what is now Montana. He also built several homes in downtown Kalispel and ran a business providing goods and services to local farmers. The first café in what is today Montana was called simply the Dutch Coffee House because it served coffee only from morning until night. It wasn't until 1862 that someone decided to open a bakery next door called The German Bakery & Cafe (later known as The Place). At that time, there were only two cafes operating in downtown Kalispell – The Dutch Coffee House and The German Bakery & Cafe – so it's likely that these two establishments were combined into one when The Place opened its doors. In 1892, Harry Kapp opened his first Café duPont across from The German Bakery & Cafe (now known as Bistro Rangoon). Kapp's Café duPont served bacon wrapped dates with some kind of syrupy sauce for breakfast (it's still popular today), lunchtime sandwiches with ham or cheese slices for lunch (usually featuringluce or cream cheese), desserts likeecakes or churros (served with ice cream), hot chocolate (a rarity at that time),and pastries such as croissants or biscuits And Waffles . Kapp quickly became well-known throughoutKalispelton for his delicious food service along with his unique atmosphere – an intimate setting where you could enjoy your cup of coffee without having anyone else around you! He prematurely died at age 70 after many years of successful business ownership; however, his legacy lives on through his CafésduPont chain which continues to serve delicious food items throughout central Montana today!

Eventually though, many different groups started returning to Kalispell after finding new opportunities elsewhere in Montana or even further westward across Canada/U States borders thanks to advances in transportation and communication technology that made it easier than ever for people to move around without fear of being stranded or lost forever like so many previous pioneers had done before them.
