These new coffees became very expensive so people began to purchase American made coffees instead. Kalispell, Montana is a small town in the U.S. state of Montana. It is located on the Missouri River and was founded in 1868 by prospectors looking for oil and gold. The population was 1,546 at the 2010 census. The first people to live in what is now Kalispell were Dakota Sioux who came from South Dakota in 1851-1852 as part of the Oglala Sioux tribe's move westward after the US government abandoned their reservation. They established a log cabin near present day Ponderosa Park on November 15, 1868. In 1870, John Wesley Powell explored the area and discovered numerous gold hills near present day Kalispell when he traveled downriver from his famous expedition led by General Grant into what are now Wyoming and Colorado Territory. The discovery of gold brought new settlers to Kalispell, many of whom were French Canadian miners who had been working in Idaho until Gold Rush fever hit them hard in 1849-50. By 1870, there were over 100 white people living in or around Kalispell while only 10 or so Native American people remained on the Reservation which included most of south central Montana today including most of Glacier National Park and all but a small slice of Yellowstone National Park (the park boundary changes frequently). Gold Mining began soon after Powell's discovery and quickly became one of Kalispell's main industries with over 50 men working at various mines throughout its early years including some that remain active to this day such as Pioneer Mines & Copper Mines Ltd., still operating today as Pioneer Mine Co., Incorporated (PMC). Over time however production declined as more efficient methods for extracting silver and other minerals became available; however rich veins still exists today that could produce significant ore returns if exploited properly. In 1902, local resident J C Cooke opened Cooke Brothers Coal Company which mined coal for shipment downriver to Helena where it was then shipped out on barges across the river to be delivered directly to Eastern Railroads’ loading docks at Tenth Street and Union Pacific Railroad tracks just north of downtown Montananville with minimal intervening traffic on Interstate 90 through that portion of Montana today! Today Cooke Brothers Coal Company remains one of America’s oldest commercial mining operations with an estimated 250 employees employed at its two mines complex currently employing approximately 350 workers plus associated businesses located adjacent thereto both engaged primarily in coal mining – although Lubrano Hillcoal mine has closed since 2006) . Although decline took hold during World War II due largely to wartime production shortages outside North America; However hairline fractures within North American markets caused spot prices for copper relative to other metals (copper being especially prone due its unique physical properties) cause Arrowhead Mining Corporation (later renamed Arrowhead Ventures Inc.)to become one world leading copper producer with annual output reaching $1 billion by 2002 despite challenges related primarily to infrastructure needs experienced during this period including floods resulting from heavy rainsstorms hitting western MT during winter 2001-2002 followed by Taliban occupation/attack against Tailings Storage Facility operated by Enterprise Minerals plc.; notably causing extensive damage not only reducing access surface water supplies essential for plant operation but also severely affecting underground workings!
