The Navy has been deployed in West Plains, Missouri for over a century. The city is located on the Mississippi River and was founded by Native Americans. When the United States acquired control of the area in 1819, they began to populate it with white people. The city was named after Ulysses S. Grant, who served as President of the United States from 1869-1877. The first naval installation in West Plains was established in 1851 when USS Constitution sailed into town to take on pirates. USS Constitution's commanding officer, Commodore James Fenton, donated land for a naval base and an arsenal to be used for warships and artillery. In 1862, USS Monitor sailed into town to protect Union forces during the Battle of Corinth Canal. Commodore Fenton donated $10,000 to help build a military hospital and naval academy inWest Plains. In 1865 USS Hartford arrived in town to take part in the Battle of Pea Ridge Creek near present day Springfield Heights. Commodore Fenton donated another $10,000 for weapons and ammunition storage at this time also helping to create what is now known as Naval Air Station West Plains (NASWPL). NASWPL would become one of America's most important navy installations with its capabilities including carrier aviation training and air defense missions against enemy planes and submarines alike throughout World War II. As America fought World War II or Cold War conflict across seas and continents worldwide, NASWPL played an essential role providing versatile aircraft carriers that could operate anywhere at any time while supplies were transported ashore or unloaded onto shore facilities like NASWPL which also housed radar radars capable ofprevention against submarine infiltration attempts during peacetime operations After World War II ended however, NASWPL struggled with lack of funding being its main problem until it was reopened by Congress as Naval Air Station Springfield (NAAS) which would remain operational until 1973 when it became Naval Air Station Chicago (NACL). Since then there have been multiple closures/revocations along with new construction projects all culminating finally within the boundaries today that are home to NASWPL once again-. One such project is currently underway which will seeUSS Abraham Lincoln arrive into town next week bringing additional jobs opportunities as well as new housing developments focused around maritime transportation research conducted aboard her decks As we look back over history here at NASWPL we can't help but remember all the good things that have come with it such as increasing numbers of people coming here each year for meetings related to shipbuilding; increased tourism; more businesses coming here each year looking to expand their presence; more families visiting us; more students getting involved through summer programs etc etc etc etc etc... All these things are because our community has supported our navy through deployments both past and present!

West Plains is a town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,491 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. In 1855, a group of Mormons from West Plains founded a farmstead on what is now called Prairie View Avenue in rural St. Francois County. This early settlement became known as "The Farm." In 1861, when Missouri opened its new state to white settlers, The Farm was sold to J.B. Beeson and his family for $10 per acre ($100 worth of land at that time). The Beeson family soon began growing crops and raising livestock on their property until they developed an asphalt plant on their land in the late 1920s which made them one of the largest employers in town today. The United States Navy has a long and proud history of deploying gifts to friends and allies. From the humble seashell to the world’s most advanced warships, the navy has sent its share of beautiful things in memory of those it loves. Some of the most memorable gifts from the navy have been items meant to commemorate service members or celebrate victory. Other gifts were simply beautiful pieces of art that expressed love or friendship. But no gift is more significant than when a navy ship sends something cold, hard, and unique in return. That’s what happened with the USS Constitution (1801-1865) and HMS Guerriere (1806- 1814). On July 4th, 1814, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry sailed his flagship USS Constitution into Boston Harbor in order to demand tribute from King George III for America’s victory over Spain at Trafalgar Ridge eighteen months earlier. The British response was lackluster and Perry decided to send HMS Guerriere instead as a gift. The warship arrived in New York City on October 10th, 1814 with Lt. John Fenton aboard as Royal Naval Officer Commanding United States Squadron Mediterranean Fleet “Gentlemen of England” under Rear Admiral Sir John Jervis Adams. There was much fanfare as both ships docked at Pier 41 on Broadway just blocks away from where President James K Polk would be inaugurated two years later on November 3rd, 1844 as the 44th president of the United States! What followed is now commonly referred to as “The Gift that Gave Peace To Europe” due to this unique shipment being one of only three ever given by America to another country during our involvement in World War II! The other two recipients were an RAF airfield medal and an Italian submarine insignia gifted by Franklin D Roosevelt during his tenure as President! While these items may not have had direct impact on war efforts or warfare itself, they are still celebrated anniversaries today because they represent so much good will between nations - something that we all hope continues into future conflicts!
