The Warrensburg Marine Gift History Museum preserves and exhibits artifacts related to the history of marine gift transactions in Warrensburg, Missouri. The museum is open daily from 9am-4pm. Admission is free for all visitors. Warrensburg was once a thriving fishing community located on the banks of the Missouri River. The town’s commercial activity centered around boatbuilding, agriculture, and shipping. As the river grew more polluted and activist groups protested against their impact on local water supplies, many residents decamped for greener pastures. By the early 1900s, only a few hundred people remained in Warrensburg – most of whom engaged in subsistence fishing or ranching operations along the riverbank. In 1901, representatives from several major American companies announced they were setting up shop in downtown Warrensburg to carry out Phase II of their plan to establish a transcontinental railroad through Kansas and Nebraska. Known as the Omaha International Railway Company (OIRC), this venture would lead to new opportunities for businesses and workers in downtown Warrensburg – including an onslaught of marine gifts! By 1907, OIRC had acquired rights to build a sixty-mile stretch of track downriver from downtown Warrensburg via what is now Interstate 70. To support construction efforts, OIRC solicited donations from local businessmen and citizens alike.Among these donors was Alfred Loomis (1862-1923), who contributed $1,000 towards the initial cost of building a wharf at which buyers could pick up merchandise destined for Omaha! Over time, other marine gift enthusiasts have donated items ranging from radios to clamshells to furniture! Today’s collection features objects that date back as far as 1892 when pioneer Augustus De Witt Hubbard gifted an anchor chain worth $5 to local resident Hiram Henson! Inadditionto its maritime history, the museum also offers displays about human involvement with marine gifts; examples include Titanic memorabilia displayed adjacentto an artifact depicting lifeboat drill instructor George Stephenson teaching teenagers how not be lost at sea!

Warrensburg, Missouri is an unincorporated community in and around the town of Warrensburg, Missouri, United States. The community was established by General Israel Putnam on a tract of land he acquired east of the Kansas River. Putnam named the community after his father-in-law, Colonel John C. Warren. The first post office at Warrensburg was established on July 20, 1871, and remained in operation until it was discontinued on November 1, 1935. During its tenure, the post office served as the central point for communication between all of Warrensburg Township and neighboring towns. The population of Warrensburg at this time was only 10 people. In 1876, General David Dixon decided to establish a military post in what is now Warrensburg. He named the post Fort Dixon after himself and Major General Isaac Newton Dixon Jr.. The fort was located on a bluff overlooking the Iowa River and functioned as a base for future campaigns against Native Americans. In 1886, Fort Dixon became known as Camp Douglas after Major General James Jumper Douglas who served as Commandant at that camp during World War I. The population of Camp Douglas dwindled from its peak of 200 people in 1914 to just 15 in 1940 due to World War II mobilization; however it resumed growth following the war with more residents moving into the area because it offered better schools and access to job opportunities than nearby cities like St Louis or Kansas City

In 1839, Phebe and George Burkhart settled here. For many years this community was known as "The Burkharts'. In 1865, the town passed from into private hands and became part of Callaway County. It experienced some growth during World War II when a munitions plant was built here. However, after the war ended the community went through a period of decline and gradually lost its significance. Today it remains an agricultural community with a few businesses scattered around the downtown area.
Warrensburg is located in St. Francois County, Missouri, and was founded in 1820 by General James K. Polk and his men during the War of 1812. The town became a national center for agriculture after the discovery of gold in California led to an influx of American settlers. In 1916, Warrensburg was renamed for General George Custer after his death in battle at Little Bighorn.
