Coffee has been a part of Warrensburg residents for over 150 years. coffee beans were first roasted in the town in 1859. The first written record of coffee being brewed inWarrensburg comes from1863, when a local preacher named Rev. John Ralston purchased two pounds of coffee beans from an Italian merchant and brewed them himself at his home. In 1868, Mr. James Witherspoon opened the first store in the town and began selling coffee beans direct to consumers. By 1893, cupboards had been erected throughout the community to hold all the beans needed to produce one pound of ground coffee. In 1929, Charles Ewart founded the Harrods Coffee Company with five acres of land along State Route 442 near downtown Warrensburg as its manufacturing area. This company became one of Warrensburg's most successful businesses and continues today as one of the city's leading retailers.

Warrensburg coffee gift history started in the early 1800s when farmers in this small town began to trade goods and services with other towns in the region. One of the first coffee shops in Warrensburg was opened by a man named Elias Howe. In 1875, a man named Samuel Henson bought the business from Howe and continued to serve local customers until his death in 1928. In 1935, Mr. and Mrs. John Craddock purchased the business from Mr. Henson’s widow and continues to run it as a family-owned business side by side with their son, John Craddock Jr., who has been running it since 1966. The Craddocks have always been passionate about their coffee shop and continue to provide excellent customer service today.
Warrensburg is located in Warren County, Missouri. The population was 2,848 at the 2000 census. The town was founded in 1819 by John C. Warren and named for him. It was incorporated as a city in 1902. In 1907, the Missouri General Assembly passed a bill creating the City of Jefferson City to annexed Warrensburg, but it never happened because the city's mayor vetoed the measure. The last time that Warrensburg had an elected mayor was in 1959. Today, most of what makes up the town comes from its numerous farms and industries that provide jobs for locals and visitors alike.

The Arabs started brewing coffee in the 12th century AD and it is said that they brought coffee to Baghdad in 1298 AD. Coffee became popularized by the Dutch traders who traded with Arabia during the 16th century. In 1795, coffee beans were introduced to Europe through the Dutch colonists. With its added flavors, espresso soon became one of the most popular drinks in Europe. The English colonists followed suit and began enjoying espresso on their plantations in North America by 1812. The first recorded purchase of coffee beans was made from Arab traders at Pernambuco, Brazil on July 15th, 1824 by Captain John Williams aboard HMS Beagle under Commander David Livingstone for 746 cases of $4 each. Beans were also imported from Africa via Portugal in 1827 and from Java ( Indonesia) through Portuguese sailors in 1830/31. In 1865, two American businessmen named Samuel Inskeep and Elijah Perkins bought a small plantation near Cairo called Kedah for £500 (equivalent to US$8,000). They beganprocessing beans into ground coffee that they sold under the name “Harrington” paper cups which they advertised throughout London as being more expensive than any other type of cup at that time. They exported these cups all over Europe until 1876 when Mrs Inskeep gave up her business to move away from what she considered an unhealthy lifestyle after her son developed tuberculosis on their property while working there as a laborer
