St. Peters, Missouri is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 551 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Saint Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white settlers in what would become St. Peters were two brothers, Elias and Germanus Kappenheimer, who arrived in 1821 from Mennonite country near Hesse-Darmstadt. They founded a log cabin on the present site of town on February 11, 1824 as part of a wagon train led by Philip Sherwood Woodson and his brother John through central Illinois to exploring the new West Indies. The Kappenheimers gave their land (now eastern section of town) to local farmers for grazing and farming purposes until they sold it all in 1865 to Peter Fenton for $5,000 (). Fenton donated three acres (1 km²) of his farmland south of town to build what would become St. Peters University () then known as Fenton College (); also attached was an office building now known as the original Administration Building which served as both college dormitory and administrative headquarters until its demolition in 1916-17 when an addition was built on that structure housing classrooms and other academic offices; today's Engineering Building was added during this time frame In 1915-16 Second Lieutenant George Armstrong Custer visited Fenton after being discharged from World War I with wounds received at Fort Donelson east of Nashville Tennessee where he had been honorably discharged into military service after leading cavalry charges against US Army General Robert E Lee In 1923 Drs Josephine Vroman and Franklin Payson opened St. Peters Clinic (), one of the few general medical clinics open to patients outside metropolitan areas at that time This clinic became famous for providing free care to low income residents throughout the city through an interprofessional program known as "The Good Samaritan Program" which extended services hours beyond traditional clinic hours so that patients could have access even during non-business days or evenings; today's Administration Building still houses some remnants of this early program including a drop box for donations brought in by patients waiting outside during business hours

The story of St. Peters, Missouri begins with the arrival of Europeans in what is now Missouri in 1804. The area that is now Missouri was then part of the Louisiana Purchase from France. As a result, much of this area was sparsely populated and unpopulated, which made it ideal for fur traders looking to find new land to trade on. In 1811, Englishman John Crouch arrived in what is now St. Peters and began trading with the local Native American tribe known as the Ottawas. When he died in 1812, his nephew James Crouch took over his trade and became one of the most important figures in early St. Peters history. James Crouch founded a small town called Corning which later became Saint Petersburg after he moved there from Corning. St. Petersburg soon become a major center for commerce and culture due to its location and importance as a fur-trading post on the Great Lakes region at that time. In 1825, Russian troops invaded Missouri during the War of 1812 and burned down many villages along the way before finally reaching Saint Petersburg itself in 1827. This invasion marked an important turning point for St. Petersburg because it helped spur development within the city itself as well as help introduce European culture to locals who had been living away from it for centuries prior to that point!
