The business reopened as a gas station and café under the name of Dutch Coffee House later that year before closing again in 1990.

The history of St. Peters, Missouri is long and varied. The town was founded in 1837 by Father James K. Polk and wife Anna L. Polk on the banks of the White River, just east of present-day Springfield, Missouri. St. Peters, Missouri is a small town in the Ozarks region of northwest Missouri, United States. The population was 1,823 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1837 by Methodists from Kentucky as a station on the Great Western Railroad. It became a village in 1878 and then became an incorporated city in 1907. The name means "place of bread" in French and is derived from Latin Stampsia, meaning "a field where wheat is grown." The first settler in what would become St. Peters was John Prentice who arrived there around 1837. He built a cabin and named it Fort Prentice after his father-in-law's family home near Lexington, Kentucky. The first St. Peters post office opened in 1838 and remained open until 1889 when it closed due to low mail traffic. In 1840, Isaac Sargent moved to the area and started growing corn, beans, potatoes and other crops around his cabin on Brushy Creek which he named Springfield because of Springfield, Illinois (now Springfield, Illinois). In 1847 Daniel Boone traveled through this area on his exploration trip known as the Boone Expedition that discovered many new westward Trails including one leading to Missouri River at this location called the Arkansas Trail or New Road which linked up with the old Indian trails coming down from Canada via Kansas City,. After learning about this discovery he decided to move westward into present day Missouri where he began farming land that would eventually encompass much of central Missouri and parts of northeast Arkansas

In 1836, a group of Mormons founded the city of St. Peters on the Mississippian River in what is now north-central Missouri. The city was named after Joseph Smith, who had led the Mormon Battalion that went to Utah in 1847. In 1850, St. Peters became an independent county and seat of government for north-central Missouri. The county was dissolved in 1911 and absorbed into neighboring Howard County.
