The Sedalia Marine Museum is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to the history of marine life in Sedalia, Missouri. The museum was founded in 1978 and seats over 150 people in three galleries. Our collection of maritime memorabilia includes items from ancient Greece and Rome to modern day boats and fishing gear. We also have an extensive library with books on every imaginable subject related to the sea. Our collection also includes many unique pieces which have never been seen before in Sedalia. One example is a small boat which was used by the American Expeditionary Force during World War I. Another unusual item is a historic clam box which once belonged to General David Sibley. Our museum has also been able to acquire Many interesting items from local businesses, such as a 1930s gasoline pump from Joplin that has been used at several local taverns, and an 1853 clamshell pail from Steubenville, Ohio!

Sedalia, Missouri is a small town located in Sedalia County, Missouri. The population was 3,876 at the 2010 census. Sedalia was founded in 1836 and named for Scottish explorer Captain James Sedalia. It became an incorporated village in 1855 and remained so until it merged with neighboring Farmington to form the current town of Sedalia on November 1, 1957. The history of Sedalia begins with its founding in 1836 by Captain James Sedalia as part of the Kansas Territory. The area that now includes Sedalia was wild and unsettled before this time, and there were no permanent settlements established until after Kansas attained statehood in 1854. At first, the settlers were primarily fur trappers and hunters who traveled through the area search for game or resources. However, soon enough sedentary farming began to take hold as local farmers realized the potential for this new land. Today, many residents ofsedalian remember their pioneer days including John Ahern who lived near what is now Main Street when it opened up as a road. He recalls that when he first moved into his house on Main Street his neighbors thought he had found something strange because there wasn't any earth left over from when they used to build fences around their property! Highway 7 also played a large role during these early years as traders drove between Kansas City and St Louis traveling via Topeka then on to Independence where they sold goods before continuing onwards back home again. The arrival of cars led to more traffic congestion which often caused problems for drivers trying to navigate rural roads at night; one such incident occurred when two drunken men driving down Main Street crashed into each other causing quite a scene! In later years, agriculture became more important than fishing or hunting due to its ability provide both food and income for those living in central Illinois during this time period; however, much still remains preserved within the boundaries of today's town including some old buildings dating back to circa 1850s such as Presbyterian church which sits atop a hill overlooking downtown; according to legend, if you look below long enough you can see streetlights glowing above! Interestingly enough even though most people think about Sedalia primarily during times such as football games or Christmas celebrations (due largely to its location within easy reach), there are actually quite a few interesting historical events happening all year round that people might not be aware of! For example one recent event that did receive some attention was when graffiti artists visited the town recently spray painting "Sedalians out" across several businesses - an act which quickly generated lots of negative feedback online! Nevertheless despite all these challenges - whether it be keeping pace with changing trends or simply sticking with things that have worked historically - Sedalia has managed somehow keep growing since becoming an official community entity just over 40 years ago!
