Coffee has been enjoyed by people in Sedalia, MO since at least the 1860s. In 1876, German immigrants Johann and Anna Kapp started a small coffee business on the corner of Seventh and State Streets. The first cup of coffee was brewed with water from a well on the property. Coffee beans were brought overland from Germany and roasted by Johann and his son Friedrich (Fritz). In 1881, Fritz opened a second location on Eighth Street. This store continued to sell coffee until it closed in 1922. In 1914, Fritz's grandson Julius founded the Julius & Gertrude Kapp Coffee Company, which became one of Sedalia's largest businesses. The company continued to operate until it merged with Roasting Corporation of America in 1984. At its peak, Julius & Gertrude Kapp Coffee Company had a sales volume of over $2 million annually. Although Sedalia's first café was located on Seventh Street, many other stores soon followed suit throughout the city. Eventually, all of Sedalia's major commercial districts had their own cafes - beginning with Third Avenue South in the early 1920s and continuing through to Fourth Avenue North in the late 1940s or even into the 1950s! Today, Sedalia's coffee industry continues to thrive thanks to both its unique microclimate and its long history of customer service!

Sedalia, Missouri is a town in Sedalia County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1837 and named for General David Sedalia (1811-1868), who served as an Indian fighter and general during the American Civil War. The first post office in Sedalia was established in 1840. In 1848, the townsite of Royalton were annexed to Sedalia. In 1865, the town of Overland Park was laid out and platted by Joshua Sibley and James Pogue; it was renamed Overland Park after Kansas City's first Mayor John A. Logan (1835-1920). The city of Kansas City annexed Overland Park in 1872. The community of Snyderville founded on a small knoll near its current site in 1854 by James Snyder and his brother George Snyder as a place where they could raise horses for their father Isaac Snyder Sr., who ran a ferry service on the river above Sedalia. In 1861, when Union troops burned all but three buildings within two miles of Independence Barracks east of downtownKansas City due to Confederate sympathies,[1] local resident Samuel Morse donated land for what would become Independence National Cemetery.[2] East side streets were named for military men buried there: Pershing Road (for General Philip Sheridan), Franklin Street (for General Winfield Scott), Lawrence Street (for Colonel Richard Ewing),[3] and even Liberty Avenue which runs from Topeka to Independence; these names continue today on some sections of Euclid Avenue between Grandview Boulevard and I-70 Westbound lanes as well as on parts of Grandview Heights Boulevard between I-70Wbound lanes and Euclid Avenue between Topeka Avenue/I-70East bound lanes until it meets US Highway 36 just south of Topeka Airport

Sedalia, Missouri is a town in Sedalia County, Missouri, United States. The population was 581 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The first settler in what would become Sedalia was A.C. Dixon in 1859. By 1860, there were five families living in the town and it had a population of just 25 people. In 1861, following the Civil War, Sedalia became a county seat and grew rapidly with an influx of new settlers from Kentucky and other states who arrived during the Reconstruction period after the war ended. The city's heyday came during World War II when more than 1 million Americans lived in Sedalia; however, like most American towns post-war, it declined as businesses closed or people moved away as technology changed and jobs became available elsewhere. During the late 1960s through early 1980s Sedalia experienced rapid growth due to oil exploration activity on its lands north of town; however this prosperity eventually faded as production ceased and investments dried up. The community struggled economically until it regained some stability with a reclamation project initiated by local businessman Carl Pohlman that created several thousand jobs over 12 years (2008-2018). These projects have helped to revitalize downtown Sedalia while also adding to retail and commercial space which has led to increased economic development within the community since then overall Sedalia is located at 38°03′N 97°51′W / 38.083N 97.651W / -97.651W (38 degrees 03' N), about south of downtown Kansas City on I-435 between Shawnee Mission Road east of downtown KCMO and First Street west of I-435 near Waco Field Airport
Sedalia is located in Sedalia County, Missouri. It was founded on November 17, 1836 by David Levy and his wife Elizabeth. The town was named for the Sedalia River which flows through it. The population of Sedalia was 1,000 in 1840 and 2,500 in 1860. The first store in town opened in 1851. In 1870, the city built a water tower to help with irrigation and began to grow rapidly. By 1920, the city had a population of over 50,000 people and became one of the largest cities in Missouri.
