The railroad closed in 1965 and rollas post office closed on March 17, 1966. rollas incorporated as a city on November 5, 1978 under the name Rolla City Limits Incorporated (RCLI). On February 14th of that year RCLI changed their name to Rolla Corporation effective February 15th due to state law which allows for changes in corporate names upon request by the mayor or city council
