This deployment has helped reduce crime rates in one of our most dangerous cities while providing security for all who live there.

Republic, Missouri is a town in Webster County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,958 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Republic was founded in 1837 by fur traders and settlers from Canada. The first post office in Republic was established in 1840. In 1851, Representative John Pemberton (D) served as the first Mayor of Republic. In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln visited Republic and dedicated a public square in honor of the town's military veterans during his visit to Webster County. In 1870, Republic became a village with a government composed of a school board and mayor/council form of government under which it continued to operate until 1893 when it became an incorporated town with its own police department. The residents of Republic were among the earliest to resist slavery within Jackson Parish outside of Independence because they felt that this practice violated their religious beliefs which forbid slavery withoutoses or mulatto children born into slavery being raised as free people under white parents. As early as 1840 there were rumors that large numbers of slaves had been imported into what would become Webster County by speculators looking for land to purchase; however these rumors never materialized and no actual slave trade took place until after Independence was freed from Confederate control in 1865 due to Johnson's Emancipation Proclamation (see below).

Republic was a slaveholding town in the middle of Missouri. It was founded by Captain James K. Polk in 1836 and became an important center for pro-slavery sentiment in the region. The town grew rapidly, reaching its peak around 1840, but it eventually fell victim to economic decline and social unrest. In 1861, Confederate forces captured Republic and destroyed most of its infrastructure. The town’s economy never recovered and it has since been subsumed into the surrounding rural communities.
