O'Fallon, Mo., is a small town in the Ozarks of central Missouri. The population was 5,718 at the 2010 census. O'Fallon is part of the Springfield-Spring Hill–Johnson City, MO Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is located about 20 miles (32 km) east of St. Louis and about 25 miles (41 km) west of Kansas City. The first settler in what became O'Fallon was John Crain who arrived in 1819. He named his new land "Ozark." In 1827, the United States Government bought land from the Peculiar people and placed them on a reservation near Hannibal, Ill. A year later, they sold off their allotment to other settlers. In 1834, Gideon Brown moved to O'Fallon and founded a blacksmith shop with his son Isaac Browning in what would become known as Brown's Shop District today. The business prospered until 1865 when it burned down due to an accidental fire that destroyed much of downtown O'Fallon. The post office was first established in 1830; it changed its name to "Ozark" in 1837 and then to "O Fallon" in 1867 after Territorial Governor Samuel Prescott Fallon offered financial assistance for the town's growth. In 1870, white men began clearing trees along Beaver Creek so that they could build homes there; this cleared away most of the original forest which had been here since before European settlement! The community grew rapidly because of this new development but by 1886 wheat farming had replaced agricultural production as its mainstay and by 1912 automobiles were being used for transportation instead of horseback or wagon transport as they were then!. By 1951 almost all manufacturing had ceased except for food processing!

Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto also discovered java while exploring south America during his 1497-1498 voyage under Captain Christopher Columbus. Upon landing on Pernambuco Island near present-day Brazil he noticed black bean pods growing on a high tree (the first evidence of such a crop). He soon realized that this must be the source of all the sugarcane produced along this part of South America! de Soto named this new discovery “Java” after himself because he could not find anything else with that name in either Spain or Portugal!

The first white person to set foot on what is now O'Fallon, Missouri was a settler named George Rogers Clark in 1802. The town was founded by General James K. Polk in 1836 as the location for an army station on the Illinois River. The town was numerous during the late 19th century because of its importance as a transportation hub for goods moving from the Mississippi Valley to Kansas and Nebraska. In 1865, O'Fallon became part of Confederate Missouri after it seceded from the Union. It was occupied by Union troops during the American Civil War, and most of the male population were either killed or executed. Afterward,O'Fallon slowly regained its former prominence as a farming center until World War II interrupted this progress.
