Nixa, Missouri is a small town located in the Ozarks Mountains of northern Missouri. The population was 1,812 at the 2000 census and 2,021 at the 2010 census. It lies in Boone County and is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was named for General James Nixa, who fought against Shawnee Indian attacks during the 1815-1816 Native American Wars. Nixa had a post office called Nixa from 1827 to 1840. He also served as a United States Senator from 1841 to 1865. In 1903, General John Jumper Kapp donated land to form what is now Nixa Community College. Nixon Memorial Hospital opened in 1966 and is one of the only hospitals in Missouri that specializes in pediatric care specifically for low-income children and their families. Nixon Middle School has been ranked among America's "top five" public schools by Newsweek magazine since 2006. The town has two churches: First Baptist Church (founded 1959) and Pentecostal Fellowship Church (founded 1958). both are member churches of The Southern Illinois Evangelistic Association (SIEA). Both churches have satellite campuses within other SIEA member congregations throughout central Missouri.

Nixa is a small town in Missouri, United States. It was founded in 1853 and has been located in the Nixa-St. Joseph area since then. The community is named after General James Fenton Nixa, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as a U.S. Representative from Missouri. Nixa was first settled by Quakers and Methodists, but it soon became an agricultural center due to its fertile ground and good water supply. In 1853, the Illinois Central Railroad came through the area and started transporting goods to St Louis from Kansas City. This led to new businesses being built and people moving into Nixa. The population of Nixa grew quickly during this time, reaching 2,500 by 1870. Thanks to this growth, the school system began expanding as well and by 1880 there were six schools in Nixa with over 1,000 students enrolled. The community also experienced some economic success thanks to its timber industry which produced hundreds of jobs for local residents. However, the Great Depression hit Nixa hard and many businesses closed down completely – including one of the town's most successful businesses, Jughead Boot & Shoe store which went out of business in 1931%. Despite these setbacks, however, Nixa continued to grow slowly until World War II when it reached its peak population size of 10,000 residents; however, because of military servicemen stationed nearby during that time period many people left town for safer places (such as Kansas City). After the war ended there was significant shrinkage in population due toomerication within Missouri - although still above average for a rural area like Nixas - so much so that by 1970 only 597 people lived there full timeout compared with 3200 when it first formed back at 1853 according to US Census data]. In recent years things have begunto change once again with more residents moving into town from other areas around central Missouri; however even though overall population growth has been modest over recent decades (0% per year) this hasn't stopped progress from taking place – such as infrastructure improvements such as new water lines (which were completed in 2016), expanded retail options (including a grocery store opened up last year) or increased job opportunities for locals both locally AND outside of town (mainly through endeavors like arts & culture). Overall it's clear that despite some challenges faced throughout its history – like dwindling resources or sporadic population growth – what makes Naxa unique isn't simply its location but also how it continues To thrive today thanks largely to support from its own citizens!
