The Marine Corps was first organized in 1846 and has been a part of the United States Armed Forces since 1861. The Marine Corps has served in many different ways, including World War II and the Vietnam War. The most recent conflict that the Marines have engaged in is Iraq and Afghanistan. Since Moberly became a town in 1875, its citizens have donated items to the military as well as other causes. One of the most famous donations made by Moberly citizens was when they contributed money to help purchase weapons for use during World War II. After the war, Moberlyians continued to give back to their community by donating toys, clothes, and appliances to organizations such as St John’s Ambulance and First Baptist Church. In addition, their generosity has also been recognized with several awards from local organizations. Today, marines are still deployed throughout our nation and around the world. Moberly, Missouri is a city in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,914 at the 2010 census. Moberly is the county seat of St. Francois County. The city was founded in 1853 by John Dicken and named for Moberly Creek which flows through it. It was incorporated as a town in 1869. An oil well was drilled near Moberly in 1901 and production began that year; the town became an important center for petroleum production until it closed its doors in the 1970s. Today, downtown Moberly retains some of its early commercial character with several small businesses still operating within its boundaries Moberly has been home to many famous residents including writer Willa Cather and musician Joe Bonamassa. Cather wrote her novel "The Great Gatsby" here while working on another project; Bonamassa played live music at local venues here throughout his career before moving to Nashville in the 1990s

This unit served in World War I and then returned home in 1919. After the war, the Marine Gift Unit became an annual event that raised money for veterans’ benefits. In 1938, the Marines organized their own gift unit, which became known as the Marine Infantryimental Gift Unit (MICU). The MICU donated gifts such as radios, clothing, and furniture to military units throughout the world. In 1951, the Marines created their own gift unit called the Naval Forces Command Gift Unit (NFCGU). This unit donated items such as uniforms and equipment to naval forces around the world. In 1957, Congress authorized the creation of a marines special mission detachment called The Salvation Army Gifts for Troops (SAGT) to give backpacks, hats, T-shirts, and other gifts to troops deployed overseas. Since its inception, SAGT has given over 2 million pounds of necessary goods and services to troops worldwide.

Moberly, Missouri is a small town in the Ozarks region of southwest Missouri. The population was 1,719 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Blue Grass area. Moberly was founded byán English settlers in 1836. When the Kansas–Nebraska Act allowed for slavery in Nebraska, the Englishmen decided to stay and form a town near what is now Springfield, Illinois. They named their new town after General Andrew Jackson because he had been president of the United States when they first arrived there. In 1840, they built a frame courthouse and jail on Main Street which still stands today. They also developed a cotton gin and mill around this time. In 1848, Moberly became one of thirteen towns located in Ashley County when that county was created from parts of Osage and Shawnee counties. Moberly thrived during this time as a center for manufacturing and commerce. By 1860, it had become an important stop on stagecoach routes between St Louis and Cairo, Illinois (now Kansas City). A fire destroyed much of Moberly in 1865 while it was being rebuilt following a tornado that struck nearby Blue Grass Springs two years earlier. The rebuilt community continued to grow slowly but steadily through the 1870s until it reached its current size by 1880. At that point, it began experiencing some negative effects from lack of available water supplies and other factors related to technological advances such as oil drilling that were having an impact on farming communities across America at that time
Moberly is located in the U.S. state of Missouri. The population was 7,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area.
