Gourmet Coffee became one of the most well-known and respected specialty coffee brands in America. In 2001, Gourmet Coffee merged with Peet's Coffee Company to form Peet's Global Coffee Corporation. Today, Peet's Global Coffee is headquartered in Moberly and operates over 180 stores worldwide.

Moberly, Missouri is a town located in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 8,471 at the 2010 census. Moberly is the county seat of St. Francois County. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area and the larger Ozarks Metropolitan Statistical Area. Moberly was laid out in 1836 by Major John Beckwith and named for Majestic Mountain (now Mount Rushmore National Monument). The first post office in Moberly opened in 1837. In 1840, General James Kipp had his home built here as a military headquarters during the Mexican-American War. The community developed rapidly after this time with many businesses and residences being erected along Commercial Street and Main Avenue. By 1845, Moberly had two churches and several schools including an academy which served both boys and girls until it closed in 1865 due to financial difficulties. In 1870, a railway line was constructed through Moberly by the Kansas Pacific Railroad which led to increased commercial activity and more homes being erected around Commercial Street; however, by 1880 only one church remained standing within the limits of present-day Moberly while most other buildings had been destroyed or replaced by other structures.. During World War II much local production took place as industries such as munitions manufacturing were established; however, these operations did not survive into the postwar period when technological advances made such endeavors unprofitable.. In recent years significant growth has occurred with new development taking place near downtown including mixed use housing developments called "The Blocks". Many people from Moberly commute to jobs in nearby cities such asKansas City or Springfield each day; nevertheless some residents continue to reside within their rural communities although access to transportation has become increasingly difficult given limited funding for infrastructure improvements.. Moberly, Missouri is one of the most significant communities in the history of the state of Missouri. The town was founded by David Moberly in 1821, and has held a permanent population since then. It is located just south of St. Louis on the banks of the Arkansas River, and was once a major agricultural center for the region. Today, Moberly is known as an active community with a rich cultural heritage and historical significance. Moberly’s story begins in 1821 when David Moberly moved from Illinois to what is now Moberly, Missouri to start a new life. He had heard reports that there were great opportunities for success in this area, and he was determined to take advantage of them. After some deliberation, he decided to settle his land east of St. Louis on the banks of the Arkansas River. This location would make it easy to trade with surrounding counties and help him become prosperous beyond his original goals. Moberly soon realized that he had made a mistake in choosing this location; it was far from any other settlements or businesses within reach. To make matters worse, two years after moving into his new home, he lost both his parents suddenly while they were visiting him in Illinois. This experience left him feeling difficult and lonely at first – but he quickly learned that there was no need for further sadness when opportunity presented itself . By 1830, David Moberly had built himself a successful business operating local slaves as well as selling goods through local merchants: all while looking out for ways to improve his lot within society
Moberly was founded in 1835 by John Armstrong and his family. The town grew rapidly after the discovery of oil in the area, and by 1840 it had a population of over 100 people. It became an important stop on the Underground Railroad, helping fugitive slaves escape to freedom. Moberly was also a key center for the agricultural industry, with many farms providing food for the local population. In 1865, Moberly was named one of five cities in Missouri to receive a city charter. The city continued to grow during its early years, and by 1870 it had a population of over 1,000 people. However, soon after these advances came economic troubles that led to decline and obscurity. In 1879, Moberly lost its status as a city when it merged with nearby Irvington into what is now Kansas City. The town experienced another period of growth during World War II; however, this time it did not achieve any significant success within the military or economy sphere. After the war ended, Moberly slowly declined until it reached its current level of poverty and lack of infrastructure in the early 2000s. In recent years, however, activity has begun to pick up again around town; in particular, there has been an effort to revive downtown Moberly as an important cultural destination for residents and visitors alike.
