Lebanon, Missouri is a small town in northeastern Missouri. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson County seat of Lebanon. The first settler in Lebanon was John Fenton, who arrived in 1835. He and his wife, Jane, founded a log cabin on the site that now makes up the core of Lebanon Elementary School. In 1840, another family moved to Lebanon from Illinois and named their cabin "Fenton." The village began as a simple farming community with a few homes and three stores. By 1860, there were six homes and twenty-five businesses in town. In 1865, an actwas passed by the Missouri General Assembly establishing Lyon County within Jackson County. As part of this change, parts of what are now Lebanon Township and Hallsville Township were added to Lyon County. This left only Hunting Valley Township within Jackson County remaining undeveloped for settlement purposes; it was annexed by Lyons County in 1871。 In 1875 (just after Lyon had become organized), James Hickey platted what is now called Hickey Park on land which he donated to the city of Springfield as part of the annexation process that created Springfield into an incorporated municipality (). A year later (1876), Mr. Hickey donated farmland extending along Walnut Street from Main Street eastward to Bellefontaine Road (now Ulysses Avenue) to make way for what would become Lafayette High School (). Lebanon's fortunes changed radically when oil discoveries began occurring around Lafayette in 1969 (). Theoil industry quickly became one of the biggest employers in northwest Missouri (), providing jobs for many people both inside and outside Lebanon proper (). Over time, development has occurred near Lebanese Elementary School (), Walnut Street between Main and Bellefontaine Roads (), Lafayette High School (), as well as several other smaller developments (). Today visitors can find restaurants such as Dunkin' Donuts () on main streets across town while Small World Games are held at nearby North Central College each fall

Lebanon, Missouri is a small town in Boone County, Missouri. The population was 531 at the 2010 census. It has been reported as a ghost town since the late 1800s. The first settler in Lebanon was George Wills who came to the area in 1825. The town was named for Beirut, Lebanon which at that time was part of Ottoman Syria. In 1838, the name of the post office changed from Lebanon to Boonesville due to confusion over two different towns in Boone County with similar names- Boonesville being located west of Lebanon on I-270 and Lebanese being located east ofBooneville on US-60. In 1859, a sawmill and gristmill were built by James Kapp and his son Solomon Kapp near what is now downtown Lebanon. This milling village thrived until 1870 when an Indian war raid destroyed most of the village including both mills. After this event, business stopped in Lebanon and only a few residents remained until it went out of business around 1900. In 1908, Lafayette Elementary School opened in downtown Beirut when it moved from its original location off US-60 south of town to become one of four schools serving Boone County (the others were Central High School, West Side High School and Bellefontaine Elementary School). In 1916 construction began on new elementary school buildings north of Lafayette which would eventually become Belmont Middle/High School before becomingBellefontaine Senior/High School in 1957. In 1919 an oil well discovered near Lebanon produced natural gas which led to increased development around the region including homes being built for oil workers dubbed “Gas Town” outsideof Beirut during this period . However, despite these advances,,economic decline hit Lebanon hard after World War II with many businesses closing down or moving away leaving little remaining economic activity within Beirut limits other than tourism
Lebanon, Missouri was first settled by the French in 1836. The town of Lebanon was founded on a site that is now part of Springfield. The village of Lebanon was established in 1839 and the town of Hingham in 1850. The towns were named for Lambert de Lafayette, an early settler in the area. In 1865, Lebanon became a city and the towns merged into one political entity. In 1978, Beirut, Missouri merged with Hingham to form a new city called Springfield-Hingham.
