Lebanon, Missouri is a small town located in Northern Missouri. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield- Champaign-Urbana Micropolitan Statistical Area. The community began as a farmstead on the banks of the Little River in 1854. The first post office in Lebanon was established in 1857. In 1870, a school was built and named after Major General James Harnett, who had been quartermaster general for the Union army during the American Civil War. A store and hotel were also built around this time. In 1907, a blacksmith shop and four homes were added to the community when Elijah Boone purchased land from J.H Withers for $1,000 (). Boone operated a sawmill and grist mill here until his death in 1944. The community had three churches by 1923: Baptist (1893), Methodist (1909), and Catholic (1920). By 1935, only Baptist remained active; all other denominations either merged or disappeared over time. The last church services were held at Zion Lutheran Church on May 10th of that year.[2] In 1955, an apartment complex called "Pioneer Village" opened along with several schools in what was then rural Lebanon Township adjacent to town square - still present today as Pioneer Square Park though much redevelopment has taken place there since then including mixed use development (with some shops/restaurants inside of buildings) as well as new housing developments throughout much of central Lebanon Township since its inception including one just east of Pioneer Square Park that replaced most of pioneer village once it closed down in 2016 following years of neglect (& displacement) by developers (& city government) looking to make way for more commercial/residential uses (& Pedestrian Mall & Convention Center coming soon!)

Lebanon, Missouri is a small town located in Randolph County, Missouri. The population was 585 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Lebanon were Methodist missionaries who arrived in 1839. They built a chapel and started a school which soon outgrew their facilities. A post office was established in 1840, and by 1845 there were 120 residents. The United States Census counted 503 residents in 1860, but by 1870 the population had decreased to just 40 because of various factors including war with Mexico and natural disasters such as floods that destroyed many homes). In 1871 the town was taken over by the Randolph County Board of Education which set up schools and Provided all social services (including health care). The first high school graduated its students in 1888 while also serving as a depot for mail carrier service between Springfield and Stilwell. In 1899-1900 when it became part of the new city of Peoria, Illinois, Lebanon's first public library opened with funds from local landowners Jeffery Wirtz Sr., Edwin Kappenberger and others including former Ulysses S Grant High School teacher Anna May Hefner. At that time Peoria had 5 families on one block so there were no streets or sidewalks! In 1921 when it became an independent city again (and annexed by Lebanon), its library continued to serve as our municipal library until it closed during the 1970s due to budget cuts. Lebanon has experienced some hard times since 1980; however through prayer and community activism they have managed to overcome these challenges both politically and economically. One example is their successful effort to get $1 million for infrastructure projects within their boundaries which include: water main replacement/ enhancements/new streetlights; road widening/ resurfacing; physical education renovation/upgrading; new zoning regulations for housing development; sewers systems installation/maintenance etc.).
