Kirksville is a small town in Alexander County, Missouri, United States. The population was 692 at the 2010 census. Kirksville is part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first white settlers in Kirksville were David and Deborah Kirk from Aberdeen, Scotland. They arrived in 1839 and founded the village of Kirkland on the east side of the river where they built a log cabin and raised corn. In 1846, they sold their land to James Bledsoe who established Kirksville as a farming community with two stores and one blacksmith shop. The first school was built in 1849 by Mrs. Jane Webber. By 1860, there were six schools in Kirksville with 25 students each; three were for colored children. A post office was established here in 1865, and became known as "Kirk's Valley". In 1880, Samuel French moved his family to Kirksville from Illinois and started an agricultural supply store called "French's Mill". This business lasted until 1914 when it burned down due to weather damage. French also founded the first grocery store in Kirksville which remained open until 1955; it was later renamed "Samuel French Jr.'s Grocery" after him. In 1907, he donated 100 acres (40 ha) of land to Alexander County for use as a rural park that now includes much of downtown Kirksville including Frenchman Park (named after him). With its large cotton plantation fields located throughout its area starting around 1840s through 1870s-80s development ensued along with new housing estates such as Independence Estates which developed initially along Winchester Avenue near what is now Spring Street between 1970-1976 (referred to as Frenchman Drive today), followed by Addison Terrace & Glencoe Manor which are currently portions of upscale neighborhoods adjacent to Main Street south/west of downtown Streetsboro etc., most notably African American ghettos like Baldwin Park/Pine Lawn etc., becoming solidified within certain areas while other parts become more mixed or suburbanized over time making it difficult if not impossible for researchers studying these demographics to track back any particular periodicity or trajectory especially given that many residents have since relocated outside those boundaries or died without leaving behind documentation

Kirksville is a small town in Buchanan County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,849 at the 2010 census. Kirksville is located on the southern edge of the Ozarks and has a humid subtropical climate. The first settler in what would become Kirksville was Levi Coffin in 1839. At that time there were only two houses and no other buildings. In 1847, John Ransom erected the first store building in Kirksville which still stands today. By 1865, when the Union army moved into Kansas to fight for their state, most of Kirksville had been destroyed by Native American raiders. A few months later, on April 16th 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in Maryland and as a result most of Missouri became part of the Confederate States of America. However, some people in Kirksville continued to support the Union government until after his death because they felt he had been betrayed by General Robert Ewell during the Battle of Gettysburg In 1945-46 when World War II began with Japan bombing Pearl Harbor and President Franklin D Roosevelt taking military action against Japan – many members of the local community enlisted in either military service or bought into rationing programs set up by Social Security Administration (SSA) officials to help maintain public morale during wartime shortages caused by overproduction of food products – many residents also joined hands with local businesses to form an effort called "The Victory Garden". This group collected produce from local farms and sold it directly to SSA customers at various points around town; these stores mushroomed as war production goals increased demand for fruits and vegetables beyond available supplies from individual farmers markets and farmstores twice daily throughout 1942-43; then weekly through early 1944 when weekly sales plummeted due to combination effects of Japanese air raids (October 10th-12th), censor cuts (November 6th) following November 4th dropped milk price sharply below cost established late September 1943; finally ended monthly distribution beginning January 2nd 1944 due to high demand from new SSA customer base resulting from greatly enlarged Army camps open throughout country during winter 1943/44
Kirksville was founded in 1836 by Isaac Kirks and his wife, Rebecca. The Kirksville post office was established in 1837, and the town was named for him. In 1870, the Kirksville Manufacturing Company was founded, and it remains an important part of the town's history. Kirksville has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen: Cfa), with average daily temperatures ranging from a cool night temperature of 47 degrees Fahrenheit in summer to a warm spring day temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit.
